I watched this again over the weekend as well and only one thought went through my mind the entire time: I need a bigger TV screen. 46 inches just doesn't cut it for this movie. Don't really know what will.

Watching how they came up for certain attributes the Jaegers had was cool but still too short. Watching that feature made me love Cherno more. He was a badass. A roll of coins in the fist, awesome.

I thought it looked fine at 106" from 11' away.

I've watched it on my 60" set from about 7' away. Looked great.

Fun movie but I want to know how the resistance had the funding to power the Jager's without money from the international defense. I also want to know, why they wasted money on trying to build a wall if a lot of those monsters could fly. But it's just a movie so maybe I shouldn't think about it?

FYI, it's going to be on sale for $8 at Target on Black Friday.

A very tempting buy.

If those things all had the same genetic code like Newt was saying, there were bound to be more of them. Also that blue slime they spit that could eat through metal, how long until that broke down the wall?

MoS was similar but took itself far more seriously. That movie was a chore to sit through.

Pacific Rim was a cheesy b-movie, but I had fun with it.

They were evolving to get around Earth's defenses. Eventually there would have been more with abilities like that-flight, acid, EMP-to counter walls, Jaegers, etc. and that would have been the end of mankind. That's why Pentecost and the gang were making their last stand.

That was the first time they ever seen a flying monster. Just like that was the first time they seen one use a EMP pulse. Its not like their genetic code said hey in the future there will be a flying monster and one with a emp pulse. And that was the first time one spit blue slime.

The wall was stupid in of itself but not for the reason you state because up to then they had never seen the monster do that.

Only one broke through the wall - and it's head looked like a hammer. I don't remember them using the blue slime to tear any other walls down.

If only we got more day time fights. Also loved Stryker's fight. Motherfucker was quick.

So Rinko Kikuchi has worked with del Toro and Iρarritu. All she needs is Cuarσn now. That'd be exciting to see her do her run on the Mexican Trinity. Is that their team name now?

I thought the wall was sort of a desperate measure by the world governments and the Jaeger folks felt it was a BS waste of time, money, talent, and effort? The wall also seemed to be the place to go to find work for many with fucked up lives.

The kaiju makers were upping their efforts to attack the world. New flying creature, larger creatures, new weapons, more creatures thrown at us at once, etc....

I must have reread that, Thanks! I never cared for 3D outside of the movie theater anyway.

It was a fun ride. Though I look forward to Godzilla, a PR sequel where Charlie Day and Gorman keep their link with the aliens and see that they are mounting a retaliation might be interesting. As they go insane and only a handful of people believe in a second attack. Or they take the fight to the aliens and re-open the rift in a preemptive strike.

In the PR novelization, the reason the Wall of Life strategy was adopted was because the Jaeger program was bankrupting nations.
