Re: Ever wonder why The Thing (1982) is so great?

The only VHS movie I still own is a copy of The Thing he signed for me. I also have a photo of myself with the guy. I remember the little convention he attended in my college town (which happened to be his hometown ) where he spoke with a young kid in front of me in line. The kid wanted to be an actor. He looked at him with a kind of cautionary look and said:"Are you sure? You'll have to deal with rejection again and again. " The little kid smiled and nodded, the Carpenter extended his hand and said: "I think you'll do well. Best of luck." Class act.

I hope we get a super deluxe edition of Escape From New York. Hell, I would settle for a BR double feature with Escape From L.A. Vampires would be good as well. I would love to watch nothing but Carpenter Blu-Rays in the days leading up to Halloween.
