Re: This is the End (Goldberg/Rogen, 2013) — The Reviews Thread
I liked it a lot but had a few issues - like the weird scene where the devil shows up with an erect penis in Jonah Hill's bed... that and the title card 'The Exorcism of Jonah Hill' felt like they were from an entirely different movie...I don't mind if he somehow gets possessed but if the devil can just show up any time, rape you and have you possessed by a demon, why not do that to everyone right away... the 'rules' of this apocalypse weren't well enough established for my liking... I know I'm overthinking it..and I still thought it was 4 star hilarious....but that moment and that damn title card were really jarring and took me out of the whole thing from there on out. However, the final scene was pretty damn brilliant.

saw it. thought it was hilarious. dragged a little in the middle, but otherwise a great flick. michael cera steals the movie hands down.
the cameo by
was also spectacular. love it when actors take roles like that where they can not care about their career.
i loved the video confessional parts. those were hilarious. danny mcbride, imho, stole the show. even though he's the same guy he always plays in ever movie, still hilarious.

WTF? The movie has been out for 3 days and still no review from moviefan2k4.
I guess I'll continue to wait.

Really liked, but I can't believe they didn't have a coda for what happened to
I expected something at the end of the credits.

Spoiler:
also re the Demon & the hard on (from movie-censorship.com)
"In order to trick the MPAA, Rogen and Goldberg inserted some short explicit scenes in their final film in order to get the NC-17. The plan behind that was that in case the NC-17 was given, they could simply remove the explicit pieces and deliver their "softer version" with all the other raunchy stuff again and get the MPAA to issue the "R" rating for the stuff they really want to have in there. Clever, huh?
However, the MPAA showed unexpected mercy and gave this firstly submitted version the "R" (for crude and sexual content throughout, brief graphic nudity, pervasive language, drug use and some violence) instead of the NC-17."

per imdb, she essentially quit midway through production due to the raunchiness of the remainder of the scenes she was supposed to do.

That sucks about Emma Watson. I really loved seeing her and wanted more.
As for the original version, did they take out the really graphic stuff that they never really wanted in there in the first place?
I wonder if that stuff will show up on the Unrated video release.

^ actually, the graphic stuff (the demon w a hard on) was put in essentially as a joke so they could get the raunchier dialogue in, but got an R anyways. I'm sure we'll get a ton of deleted scenes

Seth Rogen said that Daniel Radcliffe was also approached but didn't want to do the stuff that made him look bad. Which is weird considering how he was when he played himself on Extras.

If those stories are true then really, screw her. It's not like she didn't read the script or didn't know who these guys were. Sure, it's funnier that it's Hermoine, but any actress with a "good girl" image would have surficed.
While she's a pretty girl, I never really thought that much of her acting ability in the HP films. I did really like her in Perks (even though she couldn't hold the American accent), but doing something like this messed with the movie. Sure it's a silly movie, but her not coming back in the third act was a setup with no punchline. It affected my viewing experience b/c her character was clearly supposed to come back.

I wanted to see more of Emma Watson. She should have been part of the spooning action and stuff like that.

Saw this earlier today. I'll admit the trailers did nothing for me, but I liked the cast and the stellar reviews swayed me to go check it out.
The movie was alittle long, but I enjoyed it. There were enough laughs to make it worth it. The back and forth between McBride and Franco about jizzing had me in stitches.
Just curious, where there any scenes after the end credits?

Exactly. Plus, there is presumably always the option of going to Rogen and Goldberg to say that you were a little uncomfortable and ask if they can tone down some of the antics. I don't think anyone would have a problem with that if it meant getting the scene done. Apparently, she just split and left a hole in the third act of the movie. I sat through all the credits b/c I figured there was no way the character wouldn't come back.

I for one didn't really care or expect to see her back, but now that this story is out, kind of sucks about her unprofessionalism about doing dick jokes though.

I really enjoyed it, even though it seemed to crawl to the finish over the last fifteen or twenty minutes.
I was wondering what happened to Hermione.
