Just watched this. I had a terrible feeling that they were going to leap of the roof at the end there. Which would have been awful considering they could have each other.
Cool movie though.

Re: Her -- D: Spike Jonze S: Phoenix -- 2013
I guess my expectations were just too high because I finally got around to watching this (blind-bought the Blu-ray), and I did not enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would. I mean, this had all the right things going for it... all the right pieces to the puzzle... but the end result? A boring flick about deep relationships that left me feeling uninterested and disengaged from the characters.
Either I just wasn't in the right mood, or it's just not as good as it should have been. I might revisit it down the road, but I'm not eager to do that.
On the other hand, my wife thought it was great.
And I loved the trailer. A lot. I feel like I got Cosmopolis'ed.

Let it sit for a while and then watch it again. I had the same reaction as you on my first viewing, but it totally clicked with me on a second watch.

I dunno... I was hoping for more and was disappointed in the end.

I was glad this was a rental and not a purchase. An OK movie but not nearly what I was hoping for or expecting given the talent

I feel the same way. Watched it recently on vacation and while I love the cast and director, I thought the film was dull and uneventful. Really found myself not caring what happened after a while.

Didn't light my pants on fire, either. Expected more.

I could've written this post. It had all the ingredients for a movie I'd love (including the cast), and I couldn't wait to see it. I wasn't bored, exactly, but I never really connected to it. I never bought fully into the relationship or felt any emotion when it began to dissolve. I enjoyed the scenes between Phoenix and Amy Adams and felt a connection there a heck of a lot more than between Phoenix and the O.S., even though Scarlet gave a good performance as well.
I dunno... I was hoping for more and was disappointed in the end.

There are some truly seductive scenes in this film between Theodore and Samantha, and makes the premise almost too hauntingly real at times. Then the film gets a little predictable, and runs too long for my tastes (at nearly 2 hours), shave off 15 minutes, I might have liked it better.
I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.

I actually thought it would be good, but after DVR'ing it and getting around to seeing it, I thought this was forgettable at best. I'm all for a good love story between a boy and his iPod, but this one just didn't gel with me. And I still can't get over the whole "we're killing the OS" stupidness. I'll stick with Johansson's silly Lucy instead. At least she kicked some ass in that.
