Finding Dory (Finding Nemo 2) -- D: Stanton, S: Brooks, DeGeneres -- 2016

Pixar has officially announced its next deep dive into the sea.

The Walt Disney-owned computer animation company revealed Tuesday that its follow up to 2003's Oscar-winning smash Finding Nemo will be titled Finding Dory, and focus on the little blue fish voiced by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. The movie, which will be directed by original Nemo co-director Andrew Stanton, will hit theaters on November 25, 2015.

"I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” DeGeneres said in a release. "I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating Toy Story 16. But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is -- it's got a lot more Dory."

The film is the latest in Pixar's increasingly long line of sequels; along with three Toy Story films and two Cars installments, the heralded company is releasing a prequel to Monsters Inc., this summer's Monsters University.

It also has a number of new properties on the horizon to follow up last summer's Oscar winner, Brave: The Good Dinosaur (directed by Bob Peterson, out May 30, 2014); untitled inside the mind project (helmed by Up's Pete Doctor, aimed for summer 2015); and an untitled movie about Dia de los muertos (directed by Nemo co-director Lee Unkrich).

Still hoping for a sequel to "The Incredibles" but this should be good. I know Ellen has wanted this for a while so if she's happy with the script, that's good enough for me.

Nemo Finds A Sequel: Finding Dory. (2015)

Disney and Pixar have today announced new details on the Finding Nemo sequel. Finding Dory will arrive in US cinemas on November 25th, 2015, and (as you may have guessed) will follow the adventures of Dory, the helpful if somewhat absent-minded Blue Tang from the original movie.

The film will take place roughly a year after the events of the first film. Many favourites will return, including Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Other details are scarce right now, but the film will take place partly along the California coastline.

Ellen DeGeneres seems pretty ecstatic about reprising her role as a forgetful fish. “I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

And the director of Finding Nemo, Andrew Stanton, will also be returning to oversee the sequel. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” he said. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

More whale impressions, please.

While only DeGeneres was mentioned in the press release, there have been previous reports that Albert Brooks will be back as well.

Eh, she was one of the more annoying parts of the movie, but it's Pixar, so it's an automatic watch for me.

Dory was absolutely nothing compared to the annoyance level of Larry the Cable Guy in Cars. Lets just hope they don't feature him in a sequel.

Dory > Marlin
If Monster U is closer to Cars 2 than Toy Story 2 I'll be a lot less psyched for this.

I liked Dory, but i'd be afraid that her 'shtick' would get annoying if she was the main focus of a movie.

Ugh, Same here. It was like nails on a chalkboard for me. I wish we could get a Dory free Finding Nemo sequel.

Yeah. Dory was fine in what part she had but a whole movie?

So Pixar is just done right? They're just going for the easy money and their thinking is 100% like every Hollywood studio: Fuck original storytelling. Recycle, reboot, sequel. Depressing.

When Lassater came on board as Creative Coordinator he said the first thing he wanted to do was shit can the direct to video sequels of classic Disney films. Not only did he fail to do this but now all the Pixar properites have spin offs and sequels.

What DTV "classic Disney" sequels have been produced since 2006 (that weren't already in the pipeline)?

I like the Dory character, but yeah, my first thought was "So this is Cars 2 II?"

I think people get too wrapped up in the cable guy stuff. Granted I did not really know him so he did not bother me in Cars. I think he fit in that movie but Cars 2 was not really good and Tater was not able to carry that movie. It was too much of just a kids movie. I really liked Cars though.
