TMNT was based on a comic book.

Wasn't Small Soldiers a fictional toy?

i though about the TMNT arguement, but the movie came after the toys were out and popular, so one could argue that based on meant, there were toys and then there was a movie. I figured it wasn't worth the challenge...the same challenge could be made for G.I Joe and Transformers....or Care Bears...or Masters of the Universe...

What would be the normal protocol for this issue? I just don't want to mix things up further.

TMNT was a comic book first and the question specifically says no comics.

Some very good unique answers like Witchboard and Hudsucker Proxy. Nice thinking.

I was worried about my answer, thinking I should have gone with this:

I must've missed the toy/game that The Hudsucker Proxy was based on. It must've been some uppity sissy toy since Groucho picked it.

I don't want to move the scores on until this semi-challenge is figured out, what say all?

Toy soldiers are fictional toys? The question didn't say they had to be brand name.

TMNT was a comic first
G.I. Joe was a toy line first
Transformers was a toy line first
Care Bears were stuffed animals before moving onto the big and small screen
Master of the Universe was a toy line by Mattel first.

Well at least it didn't matter if I picked 1 or 2. What I should have gone with was He-Man & She-Ra: Secret of the Sword (which I think I had then changed).

I can't believe that I agree with Sauce.

Okay, all answers except TMNT is acceptable in that list, Small Soldiers?

I would say that Small Soldiers counts, because the question didn't specifically disqualify fictional toys.

Re: I'm Getting To Old For This Sheep (Movie Sheep: Lethal WeBAAAAn!)

It depends on how it's judged. I believe the specific toys in Small Soldiers were fictional, but you could allow that it's based on action figures in general.

Then you'd also have to allow Child's Play and Toy Story as valid answers if anyone had said them.

Re: I'm Getting To Old For This Sheep (Movie Sheep: Lethal WeBAAAAn!)

This is the question

R: Select a movie that was based on a kids toy or game (No video games/comics)

It says that the movie had to be based off the toy/game, Small Soldiers was an original screenplay, the toys were based off their ideas.

Small Soldiers...No
Zathura...No
TMNT...No

I was going to say the same thing, and I would say it doesn't count because the movie doesn't originate from an actual toy(s) that existed prior to the film.

Actually Toy Story is the one that would be borderline, as it actually has characters based off of real toys...Mr. Potato Head, Barbie, Army Men, etc., although its two "lead" character toys are fictional.

Re: I'm Getting To Old For This Sheep (Movie Sheep: Lethal WeBAAAAn!)

Definitely no on TMNT.

Definitely no on Zathura.

I don't think Small Soldiers really fits within the spirit of the question, but the question is vague enough that I wouldn't have a problem with it counting.

Re: I'm Getting To Old For This Sheep (Movie Sheep: Lethal WeBAAAAn!)

How I read the question was that the movie had to be based on a pre-existing toy/game but do I really care? Nah.
