It's a good list, and one that appeals to my tastes. However, not sure if I find some of these to be "better" than some of the nominated films.

Anything but Argo. I'm pulling for an upset. I think Amour and Django Unchained are the best movies listed.

They're not that well-manicured.

Re: The 85th Annual Academy Awards (2013 Discussion)

Arkin probably doesn't have a shot because his role was too brief.

I'm torn on supporting actor. I really could see either Jones or Waltz taking it, and I can't say which I feel more strongly about. If Ralph Fiennes would have won the Oscar he deserved (IMHO) for Schindler's List, Jones would be up for his first and would be a lock.

As much I like Daniel Day-Lewis, I'd love to see Hugh Jackman win. He doesn't have a prayer though.

I'm going to have to take $1,000 out of your DVD Talk account AND you'll be forced to watch tonight's Oscar telecast.

Re: The 85th Annual Academy Awards (2013 Discussion)

I'm rooting for Zero Dark Thirty although regrettably, I think Argo is going to win it.

i would much rather go with a film that really tries to be accurate to history and entertain at the same time over one that constantly avoids accuracy and descends to Hollywood cliches in order to entertain.

It was a much harder feat to accomplish for ZDT.

Betting on an Argo win. Hopefully McFarlane keeps things entertaining.

I keep confused. A picture came out yesterday of Hugh Jackman (looking like) he is still filming Wolverine and now I see him with a thick goatee.
Is he sticking that thing on?

Re: The 85th Annual Academy Awards (2013 Discussion)

I think Mcfarlane will do fine tonight thought I'm dreading his inevitable musical numbers.

Of the nominees that I've seen, I'd like Argo to win. I still think Lincoln will get it though. It's just the type of movie Oscar loves.

I hope Hathaway doesn't win simply because I don't want to listen to her give phoney, pandering speech.

X 1000. I can't stand her. She's a decent actress, but damn is she annoying as fuck on award shows.

I'd pay money to see her lose. She's going to win though.

Love Anne Hathaway. She can act how she wants on awards shows if she deserves the thing.

Wow. Kristin Chenowith looks like a child next to Adele.

I had to mute her. I rather just look at the people anyway. Those interviews are painful.

Re: The 85th Annual Academy Awards (2013 Discussion)

I frickin' love Adele. She's got genuine talent and isn't afraid of standing up for herself and others. She told off Chris Brown at the Grammys when he didn't applaud Frank Ocean. She's awesome.

Also, I have no problems with Hathaway. She gets naked a lot. There are worse reasons to get an oscar. Although Amy Adams gave the best performance in that category.

Good to see they start off with a fairly major award...who will take supporting actor?

The backstage cameras on the Oscars app actually pretty interesting.

I wonder if this is the one major acting award that results in a surprise, The other three seem close to locks.

Maybe Bobby in a bit of an upset?
