A friend told me that they think a part 3 got green lit.
There could be something interesting with back story about the relationship between Hammer Girl and Bat Boy.

Saw this today with some close friends. We loved it. Definitely the definition of a 'bigger & badder' sequel. I kept myself mostly in the dark about this film, but nothing prepared me for how far Evans goes with the sequel. Such an exciting film!
Also, maybe it was just me, but I found the story a bit to hard to follow early on. I wouldn't go as far as call it convoluted as a lot of reviews I'm seeing now do.

I went and saw the film for a second time this afternoon. 'Early Bird' tickets ($7) coupled with the fact that the theater is less than 10 minutes away? Dangerous stuff!
Loved it even more the second time around. Didn't feel like 2.5 hours long.
I was still confused about a couple things. To anyone else who has seen it, hopefully you can help clear these things up for me.

Re: The Raid 2: Berandal (2014, Evans)
Hi, accidentally came across this forum and joined to post this message.
This film casts quite a lot of prominent Indonesian actors, which I reckon each of them holds sort of keys to the story, regardless of their roles in the film. I read somewhere that Evans had planned the film as a trilogy since the first one. I reckon that the story's a bit too complex because he's trying to put the backgrounds in place, as a preparation for the next part.
Remember when suddenly the name "Reza" appeared in the first film? This "Reza" was only mentioned by Tama at the end of the first film, without any actual role. We only know that this "Reza" is one of Tama's connection inside the police, and we get to see him in the second film. Similar to this scene, I think Evans is trying to leave some backgrounds for the next film, only at a bigger scale. Hence we felt like it has got too many characters to know.

I'm not going to call this the best action movie ever made, but it sure was fucking awesome. And brutal. And a little silly at times. But that car chase... And the last two major fights. Holy shit, were they perfect.

It certainly didn't feel like it was that long, and in fact, some things could have been fleshed out (which was touched upon in this thread). I'll have to check out the deleted scene.

I did notice that one of the scenes that was not in the finished film but was in the trailer is the one where the dude shoots another dude in the head as he's riding the escalator. I haven't seen the deleted scenes yet.

Also I love the fact that this is nothing like the first movie. A typical sequel would have tried to place the guy in a building and do it all over again. This movie moves forward.

AHA! This IS hitting my local AMC! My IMDB app was all confused about it. Hopefully it'll stay long enough for me to see it. As regards a dub, the DVD and Blu-Ray did have have one for the first film. I'm kind of surprised it was exhibited theatrically that way to be honest, it was fairly gutsy of Sony to send it out subtitled. So does this one have multiple scores as well, or is there just the one this time!
