Legal battles will surely keep this at bay from many of us to see, but damnit, I've ALWAYS wanted to see a movie with Disneyland/World as it's backdrop.....Especially if it's "Lynchian"
Clip:
The safest bet on an unrepeatable experience at Sundance this year is Escape From Tomorrow (A-), a movie shot guerilla-style inside the Magic Kingdom. That’s a bet, however, I’d be delighted to lose, since Randy Moore’s first feature is a sui generis work of art that deserves an audience every bit as devoted, if substantially more select than, as The Little Mermaid. The movie begins with an ironic twist on the perfect family vacation, as dad Roy Abramsohn rises for his last day at the park to find out he’s been fired from his job. But the demons menacing him soon manifest themselves more literally: the “Small World” marionettes hiss at him with bared fangs, and “Space Mountain” threatens swift decapitation.

The result of Moore’s quixotic dream is “Escape from Tomorrow,” a Surrealist, genre-defying black-and-white film that was shown for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday night and that was primarily shot across the vast expanses of Disney theme parks in Orlando and Anaheim. There is Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and Space Mountain, Tiki Room and teacups, princesses and a Main Street parade. At one point, Epcot Center blows up.
It is one of the strangest and most provocative movies this reporter has seen in eight years attending the Sundance Film Festival. And it may well never be viewed by a commercial audience.

This will end up as the next great underground film. Either it'll be leaked on the internet or we'll have secret midnight screenings.

Accidentally ran into a spoiler-filled review (Beware of the nytimes.com review)

Well, I gotta tell you... that clip of the film did nothing to make me want to see it.

Yeah, this doesn't inspire much confidence.

Randy Moore’s buzzy Sundance thriller was shot in secret in Disney parks with a distinctly non-Disneyfied tale of dread and paranoia in the happiest place on Earth. The distribution trifecta of Producers Distribution Agency (PDA), Abramorama, and FilmBuff will release Escape From Tomorrow in theaters on October 11 as well as on VOD and digital platforms, although nobody’s yet talking about how the pic’s skirting Disney’s legal muscle. Check out the first trailer:

This actually looks like it could give Manos: Hand of Fate a run for its money.

It looks like it's either terrible or terribly hilarious.

That trailer gives me no idea what the film is about.

Guy loses job and has a nervous breakdown while on vacation at Disneyland. Looks like Eraserhead in the Magic Kingdom. Weird
The MPAA disclaimer at the beginging of the trailer actually says "THIS TRAILER WAS APPROVED FOR ALL AUDIENCES BY THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY" Maybe they actually got consent...or maybe it's a joke.

If you're able to cut through all the hyperbole ("it's brilliant!") floating around on the web, most people who viewed it objectively seem to think it's pretty bad. I'm extremely intrigued to see it just based on the sheer WTF-ness of it all, but I don't expect anything revelatory.
All this blatant poking fun at Disney in the advertising has me thinking, though: are they secretly behind all of it? Their legal team could probably crush any and every one behind this if they wanted to, right?

I think it's the other way around. The filmmaker WANTS Disney to be angry and cause a stink to drum up more publicity. "See the film Disney doesn't want you to see!" But Disney doesn't look like it wants to play (so far) so now they're poking the bear to get its attention.
Reminds me of the Air Pirates situation from the 70s.

The wikipedia article is excellent: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_from_Tomorrow
It appears that Disney is aware of the film but not making a stink because it would just draw more attention to the film.

Ouch. That Wikipedia article makes it sound like a piece of shit (not that the trailers didn't already do that). Especially the plot summary.

Even people who positively reviewed the film complained about the film dragging on for too long. The final cut does run about fifteen minutes shorter than what was screened at Sundance (104 minutes to less than 90).
I'm curious to see it. It's either going to be brilliant or a piece of shit based upon reviews. Either way, it can't be worse than some films that I've witnessed this year.

I'm still incredibly impressed by the music.
I don't think I've even heard anything this cinematic since LOTR or even the prequels.

Re: "Escape from Tomorrow" (Dark film secretly shot @Disney parks)
I'm thinking that Randy Moore got some good legal advice before making the film and took a calculated risk. If he got sued, he knew that Disney would have a hard time winning it's case and he would get all of that publicity. If they didn't sue, his film would be released and he could use the "filmed secretly" tactic for selling the film.

The word "NOT" is in caps in the trailer.
