I'm always game for a good sci-fi flick as long as the story is decent. Looking forward to this... -kd5-

I'm a fan of Nolan and feel that most of his movies while not always perfection are at least well made and have good acting and feel that he's a capable director. Either way the movie sounds like it could be interesting to me and I'll definitely check it out. Also  at the pro vs. anti Nolan crowd in this thread.

Always remember when starting out on a creative endeavor, try something at least a little ambitious, just to get the shit-talkers out early ;)

To the guy's credit at least he stands out, for better or worse.

With Kip Thorne as the advisor I think this will be

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SBzH5uyJOH...nteresting.jpg

but not stupid.

From wiki:

Carl Sagan once asked Thorne to examine the time travel section of the manuscript for Contact. Thorne immediately dismissed Sagan's hypothesis; however, he later had an epiphany — wormholes may be used as time machines. His subsequent work, Wormholes, Time Machines and the Weak Energy Condition, along with other papers, has made him popular with science fiction fans. He did not care that it was highly speculative work, and he put as much energy into it as he did other subjects.

In June 2006, Steven Spielberg announced he would direct a scientifically accurate film about "a group of explorers who travel through a worm hole and into another dimension",[6] from a treatment by Kip Thorne and producer Lynda Obst.[7] In January 2007, screenwriter Jonathan Nolan met with the studio to discuss adapting Obst and Thorne's treatment into a narrative screenplay. The screenwriter suggested the addition of a "time element" to the treatment's basic idea, which was welcomed by Obst and Thorne.[7] In March, Paramount hired Nolan as well as scientists from Caltech, forming a workshop who will begin adapting the treatment after completing the script for Warner Bros.' The Chicago Fire.[8] The following July, Kip Thorne said there was a push by people for him to portray himself in the film Interstellar.[9]

The film, jointly financed by Paramount Pictures and Spielberg's DreamWorks Studios, will be released in North America by DreamWorks through Touchstone Pictures on November 21, 2014. Paramount will handle the international distribution.

For the most part I don't like time travel movies, with that said, In Nolan We Trust.

Yup. It stars Diamond Kitty and Nautica Thorne as rival erotic illusionists who perform a disappearing dildo - err - magic wand trick.

I just tried to pronounce this. Saying the last 3 letters had me coming off like a racist.

It's a good thing I didn't try to pronounce it out loud or you'd think I was watching Django Unchained at my desk!

This thread is great and we really don't know anything about the movie other than "time travel" and "Nolan."

Saw enough "time travel" and "Nolan" when I saw Looper.

I'm actually interested in this not because of time travel but because its a space themed movie.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ To Be Paramount-Warner Bros Co-Production And Joint Distribution

The much anticipated sci-fi film will be released in theaters and IMAX beginning November 7, 2014. Paramount will distribute domestically while Warner Bros Pictures will release internationally. This rare move by two major studios demonstrates how hot a project Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar is in the movie marketplace. Today’s announcement was surprising as Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros Pictures don’t do business together on major films. But Interstellar will be co-produced and distributed by the two studios, with Paramount Pictures handling domestic distribution and Warner Bros Pictures distributing the film internationally. Just as interesting, this is a Nolan film that Warner Bros’ financial partner Legendary Pictures will not be associated with after helping bankroll his Batman trilogy as well as his Inception. Directed and written by Academy Award-nominee Nolan, pic is based on a script by Jonathan Nolan. The film will be produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas of Syncopy Films and Lynda Obst of Lynda Obst Productions. Kip Thorne will executive produce. The film will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding:

Brad Grey, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures said, “As a filmmaker and storyteller, Chris has continuously entertained the world with his extraordinary and unparalleled talents. I am pleased beyond measure to welcome him to the Paramount Pictures family. Partnering with Chris, Emma, Lynda and Warner Bros. to release this original idea next November is the perfect way to start the Thanksgiving and holiday movie season for audiences around the world.”

Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, said, “Christopher Nolan is truly one of the great auteurs working in film today, and we’re extremely proud of our successful and ongoing collaboration with him and Emma Thomas. We are excited to be teaming with Paramount, and look forward to working with the Nolans, and producer Lynda Obst, on this extraordinary new project.”
So either the script is really risky or the budget is just absolutely absurd.
