Funny I was watching "Half in the Bag" today and they mention half jokingly that part of the reason they are doing the Hobbit now its because they wanna do it before Ian McKellen dies...

Not sure why people are surprised by a lot of these who are not known chainsmokers or boozehounds other then the fact they are really old it's just the law of averages. If the average life of span for a person is in their 70s then that means some people gonna live to be 90 or 100 to numerically avg out the people who get struck down by cancer, murderered,od's etc or the stressaholics who have a heartattack at 50.

Re: Actors you're surprised are still alive?
On another web forum (rec.arts.movies.past-films) I came across a list of the "Oldest Living Film People" (here's the link to that thread: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fro...ms/A4qYp7-7-3U)...
And one of the actors listed is Don Keefer, who's 96 now, and whom I remember as the doctor in Woody Allen's SLEEPER (1973) who, upon learning that Allen had worked in a health food store back in the 20th century, is appalled to find that back then they didn't know that steaks and hot fudge sundaes were actually GOOD for you! I think it's pretty funny that he's the one in that cast who's lasted this long.
Oh, and Run Run Shaw is now 105!

George Kennedy
When I met him a few years ago, the guy was hobbling around on a walker and could barely focus when I talked to him. I was amazed he didn't drop dead right there on the spot.

Not like he's really worth anything anymore. His last film looked interesting. Interesting in the sense that it looked like a film student trying really hard to be artsy and failing spectacularly.
