Armageddon or Deep Impact?

i actually came to like DI more on subsequent viewings, but Armageddon is just dumb and fun and my pick for crater bursting apocalyptic, cataclysmic disaster movie.

Deep Impact. Bobby D. was great in it. It much more heart and wasn't as hokey as Turdmageddon.

I'm a sucker for the cast of Armageddon.

Deep Impact all the way. 100%.

No contest.

I have always despised Armageddon. Dog shit of a movie but as I've said before I've never liked and therefore don't bother watching any Michael Bay movies unless they star Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and have the words "Bad Boys" in their titles.

Armageddon is terrible but I have no issues with people liking it as a guilty pleasure.

I haven't watched either in years, but I recall the cast of Armageddon basically making that movie. DI might be a better film, but it's not as fun.

I look forward to voting in the "Dante's Peak or Volcano?" poll next.

Can I write in "Melancholia"?

If not, then I choose Deep Impact. It doesn't make me want to drive a drill through my skull when I watch it.

Neither.

Deep Impact by a mile!

Much more moving and emotional (a woman directed it!). I love how Wood goes back to save the girl, not many of us would do that. :) Tea, Morgan, Duval were great, too.

Not one of my favorites though, kind of a sad movie. I watch it on Netflix now and then.

Aramageddon is just silly but fun. The two rocket launch is really cool, but NASA would never launch rockets side-by-side seconds apart. However, there's been times when two space shuttles were on both launch pads. Nice to imagine them launching simultaneously.

Re: Armageddon or Deep Impact?

That scene was a little more tense in the first movie. Maybe it was since Will Smith's shirt was open so he looked all defeated. :)

I can't vote.

Never seen Deep Impact. Dunno why. I'll proabably see it now.

I do like Armageddon. Mostly anything not involving the Affleck/Tyler moments. It's ridiculous, flawed, and stupid but I enjoy it. I blame Steve Buscemi and several other members of the cast for this. Also...pretty damn good production. Any movie w/ Steve Buscemi is easily a movie I must watch.

Morgan Freeman is President of the United States.

Therefore Deep Impact wins.

Deep Impact seemed unfinished. Like 70-80% of a movie for some reason.

I've never seen either one. So,

Deep Impact, all the way. It really has the gravitas needed for a "meteor is going kill us all" movie that works. Plus, some stuff at the end makes me cry like a baby.

I also like that the time-table is not so ridiculous.

Armageddon. I get suckered into it every single time I come across it on TV.

I prefer Deep Impact. Armageddon is beyond ridiculous. I'm just not a fan of Michael Bay's work.

They're both ginormous turdburgers, but at least Armageddon is an entertaining turdburger. The only thing I remember about "Deep Impact" was Tea Leoni's dead-behind-the-eyes shit performance.

Nick Martin 12-22-12 06:11 PM

Re: Armageddon or Deep Impact?

Michael Bay's idea of entertaining just reeks of turds and is therefore not entertaining. To me anyway.
