MGM +

I don't need to watch a movie to see two people interact on a cellphone -rolleyes-

I watched Cobra (1986) last night on Max

This movie has not aged well at all. A bunch of dated cop and killer cliches. The ending was also just dumb. A big shootout and one-on-one fight in a warehouse with Cobretti and the leader of the serial killers. Brigitte Nielsen cannot act at all.

There might have been a decent serial killer thriller in here somewhere, but Cannon and Stallone just turned it into a dumb car chase shoot 'em up.

The Good House Lionsgate BD 2021
Sigourney Weaver, Kevin Kline. Directed by Maya Forbes, Wallace Wolodarsky. 2023
Sigourney Weaver is a New England realtor whose drinking problem has been slowly causing her life to unravel, though things take a turn when she re-connects with a crusty old flame (Kevin Kline).

This is pretty much a collection of "Upper Middle Class" cliches that evolves into a pretty standard story of a character dealing with her Alcoholism. However, because Sigourney just owns the character and there is an excellent supporting cast, I still found it entertaining..

Showtime

A divorced drunk takes his kid to see a baseball game in Milwaukee.

His wife was hot but could not stay away from the bottle.

I liked it.

Starz

Directed by Wim Wenders

A big fan of McAvoy and Vikander but this movie was boring.

Netflix

It was long and it needed a bigger probe into the depths of her character but I was entertained.

HDNET Movies

It was alright but I think I know most of the stories and exploits of the 85 Chicago Bears though I did not know the 86 Challenger Shuttle disaster put a pall on their Super Bowl celebration.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods (2023) — Passably entertaining sequel that lacks the charm of the original to go along with the over-acting from Lucy Liu as the primary antagonist; really miss the great menace Mark Strong brought to his role. Still Zachary Levi was still great as Shazam and there were some fun scenes between Djimon Hounsou and Jack Dylan Grazer. Not great but still decent enough especially for families. ***¼/***** (4K Ultra HD)

Avengement - revenge flick starring Scott Adkins as an escaped convict getting even with those who wronged him. Basically 90 minutes of bloody brawls.

Amazon Prime

I wish this got a blu-ray release so I don't need a 12 month Amazon subscription.

Maybe they could have done a better job when it came to the 80's soundtrack since most of the cheesiest songs of that era were used.

I own this along with the Sapphire editions of Gladiator, Amercian Beauty, Braveheart, and Forrest Gump.

Funny to watch Damon as a older man and then see him again when he was young is the late 90's.

I forgot Paul Giamatti, Bryan Cranston, and Nathan Fillion were in this.

if you have a kid who wants to join the military show him this and it is not as glamorous as you think though it is noble to serve your country but I would never assume the risk of dying or getting mutilated.

Crazy it lost best picture to Shakespeare in Love? WTF.

I think Harvey Weinstein did a good job campaigning for that movie and Spielberg did not want to schmooze with the Oscar voters.

In the Line of Duty I - IV - Watched all four films from the 88 Films blu ray box set this weekend. They looked great, and some of the shootouts and fight scenes in each film are just flat out bonkers. The jewelry heist shootout from ITLOD III belongs in the shootout scene hall of fame, it is brutal, and extremely kinetic and well choreographed.

John Woo may have mastered the 15-30 minute long gun battle scenes, but the shootouts in the third film in this series are something to behold.

Was that big giant black dude that fights Donnie Yen at the end of the fourth film the same guy from The Last Dragon? Talk about an insane fight scene.

Knocking (2021)

Beautifully shot and anchored by a wonderful performance from Cecelia Milocco.

Although I'm unfamiliar with the short story the film is culled from, it was a fairly enjoyable experience up until the final act.

Angel (1984)

A film that is better than it has any right to be due to a fantastic supporting cast, especially Rory Calhoun, Dick Shawn & Susan Tyrell.

John Diehl also nails his rolel of The Killer, egg-sucking and all

The World of Kanako (2014)

Director Tetsuya Nakashima's film is bat-shit insane and should've been right down my alley.

Sadly, I found it overlong, poorly paced & edited.

65 (2023)

Unremarkable film made a smidge more bearable due to Adam Driver's committed performance.

The overall result is as dull as Directors/Writers Scott Beck & Bryan Woods' 2015 film Nightlight.

Beyond The Door (1974)

An Italian mash-up of The Exorcist (1973) & Rosemary's Baby (1968) that somehow made $15 million dollars at the box office.

Outside the possession scenes and the gentleman with the nose flute, the film felt incredibly dull.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I’ve seen the movies but it’s been quite a while and I barely remember them. I’ve been wanting to revisit them. Enjoyed it pretty well. I’d say it holds up for being over twenty years old.

Netflix streaming

I know the vortex and portals crowd would not bother to watch this but I liked it though maybe some of the characters had some flaws and made some stupid decisions or can't open their eyes and see the obvious
