I watched a pair of Liam Neeson movies last night on Amazon Prime Video: Honest Thief (2020) and Blacklight (2022). I was entertained, but I liked the first one better than the second.

Ghosts of Mars (2001)

Is there any fiber of this film that doesn't feel lazy or cheap?

Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil (2017)

While I lacked engagement with many of the main characters (which affected any care I had for the plot), the cinematography and FX work is wonderful here.

Laura Hasn't Slept (2020)

While Director/Writer Parker Finn's short packs quite a bit an 11-minute run-time, oddly enough, it becomes less interesting as more FX work is introduced.

Caitlin Stasey is solid here, with a role she echoes in Parker Finn's full-length treatment, Smile (2022).

The Gray Man (2022)

Yes, this film is ActionMovie.net but I was consistently entertained and never bored.

I Am Mother (2019)

Solid performances from Hilary Swank, Clara-Rugaard Larsen & Rose Byrne but the film retreats in so many places Science Fiction fans have already been before.

Disenchanted (2022)

I wasn't expecting this sequel to surpass the fantastic 2007 film but I also wasn't expecting it to be this dull either.

Amy Adams is the clear star of the show here and the main reason to tune in.

Strange World (2022)

This film needed be to ten times more strange and twenty times less dull.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)

Sometimes I feel that not growing up with this film in my overall dialogue hinders my full enjoyment of it.

While its amusing, out of the Vacation films, I have always preferred Vegas Vacation (1997).

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Zhang Ziyi is great but the rest of overblown and overrated. I remember liking it when it first came out and this was the first time i has seen it since i was ten and it was just kind of meh
Ouija - Standard thriller fare, not scary and predictable, but Olivia Cooke did a good job.
Collison Course - Odd pairing of Pat Morita and Jay Leno but it was fun and had its moments. Morita was the highlight for me
The English Patient - had never seen this before and I really loved it. Very well acted and Finnes did great. It was long yeah but it didn't feel long as i watched it
The Devils Backbone - This was a weird movie but it definitely felt like a Del Toro movie, I wish I had watched this years ago

The Jungle Book (1967). Some fine animation and some great songs in an otherwise second-rate Disney movie. I missed about ten minutes and didn't feel it was worth replaying to see what I missed.

Weird moment of the movie: Four singers with Beatles haircuts and accents begin a song, but it isn't not rock-and-roll. They sing a barbershop quartet. Disney+

Twilight (1998) — Great cast in a so-so neo-noir thriller. Paul Newman, Gene Hackman and Susan Sarandon were great and Newman's scenes with Hackman was some of the highlights. Also get to see Reese Witherspoon (and all her glory) and Liev Schreiber in supporting roles, along with James Garner who was always great even in a smaller role here. But the script and noir never quite clicked for me and the ending was a bit predictable, however at the very least this never dragged. ***/***** (Blu-ray)

Chaplin - One of the best Bio-Pics ive seen, just all around well made and so interesting
All Good Things - Ryan Gosling does a good job playing Robert Durst albeit with a different name, its a shame this came out before the documentary that ultimately lead to Durst getting arrested finally. Would have made a good end to the film

We did a Zoom watchalong with some friends last night and watched the Sgt Pepper movie from 1978.

Some musical performances were a bit off kilter, but when the Bee Gees and Aerosmith were allowed to spread their wings, they could really shine.

This was shit

Except for looking at the female lead and her nude scenes it was a total bore.

Note to self if Jonathan-Rhys-Meyers is the lead in a movie it is usually shit.

I liked it and not sure why it did not get a lot of good reviews.

Elisabeth Moss was probably 12 in 1994 and she was adorable as the daughter. Wow time flies

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

I rented a movie called Poker Face over the weekend from Red Box. It's an Aussie movie directed by Russell Crowe

Crowe, Liam Hemsworth, Daniel MacPherson from Strike Back and even The RZA are in it. The RZA is playing an Aussie. And Hemsworth's sister in law Elsa Pataky is also in it.

It's not at all a Poker movie. It's actually a weird revenge movie involving a dying man. It was okay and watchable since it was so short.
