Again bought the UK version, has all extras on 3rd disc and a exclusive Bruce Campbell interview. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...e49ac7d8f7.png Had seen my brother's HD DVD years ago, but was like fuck this. Anyway got this sweet steelbook. https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...0;maxWidth=300 Watched this a couple months ago on one of the streaming services, so found the Best buy exclusive version on ebay for cheap and brand new. And was the reason I decided to give the whole franchise a second/new look.:thumbsup: I'll get the 4K UHD later. https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...0;maxWidth=300 Never had seen this and damn I love this fucking show :banana: sucks it didn't continue :( https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/...0;maxWidth=300 |

Not a huge Mila Kunis fan and the girl who did not look like her that played her younger self was the better actress |

V/H/S/99 (2022)
While each segment contains a fair amount to chew on, the film feels a bit wobbly in execution compared to its predecessor, V/H/S/94 (2021). |

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Goldfinger (1964) - I watched this once before, many many years ago, but I didn't actually remember many details of the plot beyond the opening scenes. This is probably the most iconic of the James Bond films and sets a template for future films in the franchise. There's the titular villain, the 'Goldfinger' song sung by Shirley Bassey, the main henchman Oddjob, the dead blonde bombshell painted gold head to toe, a heist at Fort Knox, some fun hi-tech gadgets, and, of course, Pussy Galore. I love the Mid-century modern aesthetic of this era, and the cinematography makes good use of some of the location shooting, and it was filmed in gorgeous Technicolor. The director, Guy Hamilton, would go on to direct three more Bond films (Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, The Man With The Golden Gun) as well as Force 10 From Navarone and Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.
Really enjoyed this for the aforementioned aesthetic and iconic elements. The story is fairly straightforward and Goldfinger's plan of irradiating the gold in Fort Knox is kind of genius as a villainous plot. The scenes with the planes releasing the 'nerve gas' and the soldiers all just immediately collapsing were pretty corny, though that is kind of explained by the 'twist' in the story. There is quite a bit of casual sexism--Bond actually slaps a woman he was chatting up on the ass (in public) to send her on her way while he has "man talk" with a colleague. And later when he's having a physical fight with Pussy Galore he holds her down and while she's struggling against him he kisses her, which of course wins her over. Also, pretty much all of the henchmen that Bond casually kills throughout the movie are Chinese, as Goldfinger has gotten his dirty bomb from the Chinese government. So, some cringey elements that were common in that era of filmmaking. That aside, it's a fun watch and I will probably revisit it again at some point. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...a4063afded.jpg |

Lot 36 (2022)
Director Guillermo Navarro's film plays like an episode of Storage Wars as told by the occult. Tim Blake Nelson is solid here but the material he's given is a bit average. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Graveyard Rats (2022)
Director Vincenzo Natali's film packs camp & claustrophobia in its 38-minute run-time. Fun performance from David Hewlett. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
The Autopsy (2022)
Although I haven't seen Director David Prior's film The Empty Man (2020), I still felt that his entry in Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities was one of the strongest. Absolutely fantastic performance from F. Murrary Abraham. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Prey For The Devil (2022)
Considering there was a time period where Exorcism films were being released every other week, Director Daniel Stamm's film feels old & tired. There's nothing here that you haven't seen before but the idea of a centralized Catholic Exorcism School was neat. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Black Adam (2022)
I found myself most engaged with the film whenever Dwayne Johnson and/or Pierce Brosnan were on-screen. Outside that? |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
The Outside (2022)
I've loved much of Director/Writer Ana Lily Amirpour's work and this short film is no different. Although the overall themes of the film have been done within the genre previously, I appreciate Amirpour's direction, keeping everything gooey & strange. |

The Addams Family ('91) - I know the consensus is that the sequel is superior, but I still like its predecessor more.

Netflix Both leads should get Oscar nominations Scary this could happen and go unchecked and makes you think twice when you go to the hospital for treatment. |
