Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
I just finished watching Risky Business for the first time and I really liked it. It's one of those movies that kind of slipped through the cracks for me. I was born the year it came out (1983). It was great to see Curtis Armstrong and Bronson Pinchot in this. According to IMDB, this was their first film credit. Also, Joe Pantoliano and Richard Masur were really good in this. I'm sad I didn't watch it when I was younger. One more thing, Rebecca De Mornay Wow! I looked her up on IMDB and she stills look good. 4.5/5

Dancer in the Dark - 5/5
One of the best "musicals" ever made. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
The VVitch - 4.5/5
A creepy, atmospheric, intelligent well made film that doesn't insult its audience with cheap clichés. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Kong: Skull Island (3D)...not bad in 3D. Wasn't a great fan of the yellowish 70's tone in color, but CGI was pretty good. Just monster scenes strung together. It was ok, but nothing too original. Why can't Kong ever be a kick-ass bad guy? ;)

Passengers (2016) Starz. Wow, I really enjoyed this film. I think it may catch on and become a favorite as the years go by. Surprised it basically got buried at the theaters as it barely cracked 100 million. I would have left the theater saying I had enjoyed this film.

Unforgettable (2017) Pretty awful and forgettable thriller. Psycho bitch terrorizes the fiance of her ex husband. Some good actors wasted in a script that is tailor made for a Lifetime Saturday Movie of the Week. |

Blow Out - 4.5/5
While recording for his next project, a sound man for "B" films captures an automobile accident. After finding out who was in the vehicle, and listening to the recording several times, he suspects that it might not have been an accident after all. Brian De Palma's pays tribute to two of the greatest films ever made (Antonioni's Blow-Up and Coppola's The Conversation) while at the same time making one of his best and thrilling films. |

Savage Dog (2017) Period war/martial arts drama with Scott Adkins. Takes place in late 1950's Southeast Asia. It was just alright. I like Adkins, but this wasn't one of my favorites from his career. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
The Master - 4.5/5
Another amazing film from PTA. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Blue Ruin - 4/5
A well made slow burn southern neo-noir about the never ending circle of violence. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Z (1969)
A dozen nameless characters who make no emotional connection with the viewers battle it out. I suppose it was a lot more interesting when it was current affairs. It only got exciting in the second half, when a single prosecutor investigated what happened during the chaos of the first half, indicted high officials, and brought down the government. Then it's revealed that the bad guys later won and none of the investigation mattered. I enjoyed the political intrigue for its own sake, but Mrs Danger found the whole movie pointless. |

I watched Why Him? today. I mainly rented this, because it has Zoey Deutch in it. It has a few funny moments, but mostly unfunny stupid gags that wastes a good cast. 2.5/5

Ghost World 5/5
First time viewing since it was first released. Didn't remember the two girls being such shitty human beings the first time. I guess age got to me. Still a great flick with the Seymour character hitting a little too close to home at times. |
