Both Brad and Marion look like their acting, very stiff and not life like. It tried to be English Patient or something. Sweeping and epic, but it wasn't. No naturalness and coming from Zemeckis that doesn't surprise me since his movies are technical marvels, but lack depth or substance. At least for me anyway. This was hollow, but serviceable.
Pitt and Cotillard had great chemistry. I thought their love story developed quite naturally. If the rumors were indeed true that they hooked up during filming, I wouldn't be surprised. |

Moana - 4.5/5
Never saw it in theater and really loved it. Excellent picture and sound, just loved all those colors, and the music are really good, my favorite was I Am Moana. |

Manchester by the Sea - 4/5
The life of a Boston janitor, who can't shake off the grief from a personal tragedy, becomes more complicated after the death of his older brother. A good film but not the masterpiece some claim it to be. Some strong performances from Casey Affleck & Michelle Williams. |

Desierto...i really didn't need to see helpless immigrants being picked off by a psycho, even if it was Jeff Dean Morgan. not a good movie, thematically maybe relevant, but not good.

Moonlight - 4/5
The coming of age story of a young man growing up on the drug infested streets of Miami, told in three chapters. Another good film from 2016 that I did not find to be as great as others claim it to be. |

Kong: Skull Island - IMAX 3D. I had a gift card balance that lessened the blow of the ticket cost. I thought the 3D worked. I would definitely see it again as it was an entertaining film. Also, I never watched the show Brie Larson was in...but holy cow she is gorgeous.

X-Men: Apocalypse - HBO.
I actually enjoyed the heck out of this film. The scene where Quicksilver rescues everyone from the mansion is hands down one of the most enjoyable and cool scenes I have scene in a film. It was also nice to actually see the Phoenix. |

Moana (3D)...sick at home, put this on and wow! blown the freaking away by this one. i loved everything about it. the colors, the music, the story, the animation, the voice work, everything. just fantastic. Disney never ceases to amaze. they do it over and over, somehow make it fresh and breathtaking. this one will be remembered for a long time.

Paterson - 4/5
A week in the life of a New Jersey bus driver who on his spare time writes poetry based on his daily interactions. Good to see Jim Jarmusch still has it after the somewhat disappointing Only Lovers Left Alive. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Homicide - 4/5
A Jewish detective's loyalty is put to the test when at the request of his superiors he is reassigned against his will from apprehending a cop killer, to investigating the murder of an elderly Jewish woman. Good stuff from David Mamet with some great acting from Joe Montegna and William H. Macy. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
My Bloody Valentine (3D)...pretty decent. some nice kills, eventhough only one weapon. i thought i saw this already, but must have not remembered because i didn't know about the twist. it was ok. 3D not bad either. good depth, some nice jump out effects, especially that eye scene. that was great. while this one didn't seem dark, i did think there was a lack of color. very saturated and dingy. i know mining town and down home and all that, but not sure if DP purposefully did or again, my settings. but still ok movie.

Romancing the Stone...needed a feel good movie and have maybe seen this only twice in my life. Saw and liked when I was a wee lil one in theaters, I think. Watched with such giddy delight. Douglass as an action hero? Kathleen Turner as the hot heroine? Unbelievable it worked so well. And then saw it was Robert Zemeckis who directed! Must have been one of first. They just don't make fucking pictures like this anymore. No CGI, just down and dirty, real locale, adventure with comedy pictures anymore. Fucking pure!

Neighbors 2 Sorority Rising - HBO
Not a great comedy, but fun enough and it does not over stay its welcome by being only 94m long including the credits. |

Letters to Father Jacob - 3/5
A woman is pardoned after serving 12 years of a life sentence and winds up working for a blind priest by responding to the letters he receives of those who are in need. Not bad, but predictable. |
