Splinter - small horror flick from several years ago. Kind of schlocky. The body horror stuff was pretty effective. 2.5/5

Mad Max : Fury Road - 2/5

One of the best films of 2015? More Oscar nominations than Sicario? Really??? Who would have thought that so much action could be so boring. Maybe when I was twelve and into video games I would have liked this. So much teal & orange CGI that it gave me a headache. Pure style over substance. At least it was better than Beyond Thunderdome. The Road Warrior still rules.

The Nice Guys...really fun. Gosling and Crowe are perfect. Nice successor to Kiss Kiss. Would love to see these guys again...

I liked the third act, especially once Wonder Woman got there. Up until then didn't really care for it. 3/5. Doesn't hold a candle to the Marvel movies

Just finished up watching Jack Reacher. I thought the tone was kind of uneven, but I enjoyed it. 3.25/5

Actually it WAS the best pic of 2015. Boring?! Are you kidding? Yes Road Warrior rules but this is a very worthy addition to the canon. You must have been looking at your phone a lot during the movie. No wonder.

Wife loved it. I found it to be an OK rental. Wouldn't revisit. Nia Vardolos is a talented writer and very expressive as an actress.

Indignation - 3.5/5

During the Korean War, a young Jewish man from Newark, NJ leaves his neighborhood in order to attend college in Ohio. After getting away from his overbearing parents, he soon finds out that the waspy Midwestern college has its own set of rules to impose on the outsider. Pretty good film that felt like it ran out steam in the final act.

Bone Tomahawk - 4/5

After a mysterious stranger is arrested in a western town, he along with two other townspeople are kidnapped by a tribe of cannibals. A group of men put together by the sheriff go on a recue mission to find them. Well made horror western hybrid that is also a critique on the xenophobia and arrogance of those who settled the west.

I just finished watching Goats (2012). It was a really, weird coming of age story, but I kinda liked it. 2.75/5

Horsehead - 2.5/5

After being notified of her grandmother's death, a young woman suffering from realistic nightmares returns to the house where she grew up. While there, her nightmares worsen and start to reveal some of her family's dark past. A moody, atmospheric film with a good performance from veteran horror queen Catriona McColl that relies too much on its style to make up for deficiencies in the writing.
