ROCK OF AGES. Without question the biggest hunk of shit committed to celluloid in 2012, the Kitchen **** of the Year.

(Sometimes I think I'm the only person on the planet who liked Burton's "Dark Shadows"...)

The Amazing Spiderman -I'm too tired to talk about it anymore.

Re: Worst of the year 2012

I'm so selective when I go to the theater that I managed to avoid most of the crap.

But, I did see The Possession and it was a sad reminder of what can pass for horror these days.

Also, The Amazing Spider-Man was amazingly inept. I can see some potential for the sequel to be better, but this initial offering with mopey, emo emotions and palette just bored me.

Re: Worst of the year 2012

Pretty much everything hit expectations for me except Prometheus and Paranormal Activity 4.

Prometheus was just a mess.

PA4 was a huge let down after the great PA3.

I didn't mind it either.

Biggest dud I saw this year was The Lucky One. I knew it would suck, but it was a double feature with MIB 3, and the wife wanted to see it.

I don't go to movies which obviously suck, which means I don't see too many new movies. But of what I did see:

Prometheus
The Inkeepers
The Raid
The Cabin In The Woods

Re: Worst of the year 2012

I wouldn't say it's the worst movie of 2012 but I'll agree that The Amazing Spider-Man was definitely a huge letdown. It just didn't seem like an important movie and basically felt like it was made so Sony didn't lose the rights to the Spider-Man franchise (which I know is part of the reason but still). I didn't care for Garfield as Spider-Man and The Lizard was such a boring villain, not to mention the character just looked awful.

I think after seeing what good super hero films can be like when they're done properly (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, X-Men: First Class, etc) this one just paled in comparison.

I rather watch 'The Amazing Spider Man' again than endure ever seeing 'Iron Man 2' again - waaaay overrated.

Iron Man 2 overrated? Most people seem to dislike it so I wouldn't say it's rated very highly to begin with. Although I've never seen the big problem with it personally. It isn't as good as the first one but I enjoyed it.

Love Iron Man 2. Sam Rockwell was fantastic.

Re: Worst of the year 2012

If "worst" means most disappointing, then my choice is Cosmopolis. Words cannot express the feeling as I slowly realized in the first 10 minutes that the film was not at all what it was advertised to be and, even after accepting that, how terrible it continued to be right up until the last frame.

everything about Iron Man 2 (to me) reeked of self indulgent masturbatory "ew... I'm so cool" - fuck that, no... it wasn't.

Re: Worst of the year 2012

There were a lot of disappointing movies I saw in the theater this year, but the only one I felt like walking out of was Killing Them Softly - so that's my pick for worst of the year.

(Note that I am only counting movies I saw in the theater, so there are probably worse movies this year, but not out of the ones I saw theatrically.)

'Killing them Softly' was one of those few films where the critical response was more positive than the audiences.

Re: Worst of the year 2012

Other 2012 flicks I definitely disliked:
Safe - Hilarious final "fight" but otherwise terrible.
What to Expect When You're Expecting - I remember thinking the husbands were funny, but this was terrible... and I had to buy the Blu-ray for my wife for Christmas. Ugh...
Ted - Sub-par romantic comedy that just so happens to have a talking teddy bear.
Savages - Nothing redeeming about this POS from Oliver Stone, and I even liked U-Turn.
For a Good Time, Call... - A "raunchy" comedy without any umm... raunchiness. No nudity. No gross-out humour. Just bad acting, amateur screenwriting, and jokes that all fall flat.
Chained - Maybe would have been better without the way it ended.

for something that is supposed to be different and raunchy - this felt like something you'd watch on HBO... in a hotel ... to kill some time - not paying 11 bucks to see it in the theater.

Ted was vastly overrated, but I did chuckle and got a kick out of the Flash Gordon stuff.

I just came in to defend John Carter, but a brief scan only shows one mention.

Ted was a funny movie, it was just terribly made and I have no idea how it made as much as it did. But I hold no ill will toward it, if just for Kunis cleaning up hooker poop and "You put the stuffing in wrong and I came out all retarded."

Yeah, I'm that guy.

I have a most disappointing which includes The Avengers, but it wasn't anywhere near the Worst I saw all year. There's a special place in hell for those movies.

The Dark Knight Rises. Biggest disappointment of the year for me.
