Which Ben Affleck directed movie?

I know there are only 3 right now, but they are 3 wonderful movies imo.

This was a tough choice and as much as I loved Gone Baby Gone and The Town, i think his latest, Argo, really took his previous two experiences and made for a tighter, more polished film and thus that is my choice with TT a very close second and GBG not too far behind it. Really was a tough choice though as TT is more my type of movie.

I just really loved Argo and thought its' story and pacing and overall acting was the best of the three.

You?

All three are excellent films. I guess for me, I had to vote based which subject I enjoyed more. For me, it was The Town.

He's definitely revitalized his career by directing. I went with Gone Baby Gone, which I still think is the most personal, tense, and devastating movie he's made. The Town was very good, and Argo was decent, mainly for the performances.

Gone Baby Gone for me; Argo was my least favorite of the three, although still solid.

My reasoning was the same, but I voted Argo.

Please no "Who will be the next Ben Affleck thread".

The guy IMO has made 2 good movies and one average (The Town wasn't all that).

Oh and my vote goes to Gone Baby Gone.

Re: Which Ben Affleck directed movie?

I wanted to vote for them all, since they are all Ben Affleck directed movies.

If you're asking which I liked the best, it would be Argo by a hair over The Town.

Re: Which Ben Affleck directed movie?

He's yet to make a bad movie, but nothing he's made is earth shattering.

I think his best work is yet to come, but it will take some time for him to be taken completely seriously as a filmmaker, because of his baggage (he's Ben Affleck).

I voted for Gone Baby Gone.

Or, using proper sentence structure, they're all movies directed by Ben Affleck. The thread title sounds like it was written by Yoda.

And my vote is "The Town."

Gone Baby Gone. It's the only one of his 3 that had me thinking about it for days afterwards, and my most rewatched.

The Town was good, and Argo was okay.

I haven't seen Argo yet, but so far Gone Baby Gone is his best film. Brilliant and just so incredible.

The Town is my favorite thus far. Still have not yet watched his extended cut of that movie.

Re: Which Ben Affleck directed movie?

I've yet to see Argo so I can't vote. But of the two I've seen, Gone Baby Gone is the best, even if (or perhaps because) I had issues with the final actions of the lead character.

Gone Baby Gone. I'll even go so far as to say it was the best film of 2007.

One of the best of 2007 for sure. Criminally underrated.

Re: Which Ben Affleck directed movie?

My apologies since I think that some of these are better

There Will Be Blood
No Country For Old Men
Eastern Promises
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Zodiac
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
Paranoid Park
Shotgun Stories
The Counterfeiters
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Still say Zodiac and BtDKYD are overrated.

I think Argo is his best directing, Gone Baby Gone is the best overall movie.

Re: Which Ben Affleck directed movie?

My memory tells me that Gone Baby Gone is the best of the three, but I really need to revisit it, as I haven't watched it since it came out on Blu-ray. Having just watched Argo and re-watched The Town, I definitely think Argo is the better of the two. So, for now, from best to worst, I say:
Gone Baby Gone
Argo
The Town

But when I re-watch GBG, I'll be able to solidify my opinion.

Re: Which Ben Affleck directed movie?

It is close, but because I think Argo is the freshest in my mind, I picked Argo. All three are great. I guess what pushes me in Argo's vote is because I typically like movies that are based on true events. Besides Nolan, what other directors have had such great success with their first 3 movies? Hard to imagine.

Interesting how close the poll results are so far.
