Clerks 2 was great. I hope this is just as good.

Re: Clerks III (Smith, Sometime this Decade)

HIT SOMEBODY is going to go to TV because no studio wanted to back a movie about hockey, believe it or not. Smith did a speaking event a few weeks ago that I attended and he said he talked to Jerry Bruckheimer at Disney - not asking him to back the project, but knowing that he was a big hockey fan and looking for some guidance. Bruckheimer told Smith that he (Bruckheimer) had been trying to get his own hockey idea greenlit at Disney or elsewhere for about a decade now, and no one was biting.

If Kevin was sticking around as a director, I'd have no issues with CLERKS III. But as his final film? It's a horrible idea. It's like saying "Well, I'm out of ideas...but here's one last money grab before I go."

After budget and advertising Clerks 2 barely turned a profit. I don't know how much of a cash grab another Clerks film could possibly be.

If he had known about this at the Carnegie Music Hall show, which I also went to, and announced a possible 3rd Clerks movie I might of shrieked like a little girl and fainted. I'm not a hockey fan but I would of certainly gone to see his final film on the big screen and that is saying something since his last film was the only thing he's ever done that I haven't enjoyed/bought. If it was his dream project I'm certainly glad he got to do it but it wasn't something I enjoyed at all.

I'm very concerned that Jeff Anderson won't sign on since he was reluctant to do the second film and his other film with Smith, Z&M Make A Porno, was such a bomb at the box office. If the 3rd film doesn't happen I'll be pretty bummed but I'll simply watch the last scene in Clerks II and I will be reminded about how just seeing those characters a second time was a thrill.

I thought Clerks II was a pretty good movie. It's much tougher to create a funny sequel to a comedy classic than say an action franchise.

Actually, I'd just be happy to have "Mallrats" on Blu-Ray with all the SE extras included.

Period piece. (if the mid 90's actually qualifies as such). Set it some time between the events of "Clerks" and "Chasing Amy" and have it animated "Clerks: Animated Series" style.

They made figures of characters from all the movies in that style, surely they have the artwork stashed someplace.

I like Kevin Smith. True, he's not David Fincher when it comes to technical prowess, but he has a unique and distinct voice then the general morass of comedies who are written and directed by "?".

I don't get this. nobody was willing to Back Red State either, that's why he went entirely off the studio system to do it. Is he now saying that he has so little confidence in Hit Somebody that he's not even willing to let SModco take a gamble on it?

Nobody was willing to back Red State because it's an awful movie with little redeeming value or entertainment. Smith's worst movie by a wide margin.

This will be Kevin Smith's last movie until he realizes no one is talking about him, or cares about him, or thinking about him and he'll come back with more self-important trash that is just plain awful.

I always take it with a grain of salt when people say they're going to retire- look at Steven Soderbergh, Kiss, John Farnham in Australia.

It's always the last movie until the wife wants a new summer house or the kid needs to go to an expensive private school. The only people that truly retire in Hollywood are people that can't get jobs anymore or have made insane amounts of money like George Lucas.

Hopefully Universal will port it, because that bare bones UK Blu-Ray is unacceptable.

What Kevin Smith fails to realize is the thing that makes his stand up and q&a appearences so fun and interesting is, for the most part, his Hollywood stories. Unless he's making movies, I don't really know what he could talk about that could hold an audiences attention. Unless he gets kicked off a plane for being too fat again.

Exactly. I'm not sure why he's so oblivious to this.

Re: Clerks III (Smith, Sometime this Decade)

He's sneaky. Hit Somebody while a movie is a mini-series, so it's not technically his last movie, per se.

Clerks III is not a risky project, he'll win over his fans and go out with a bang rather than potentially disappointing with Hit Somebody. He's clever in protecting himself from criticism.

The man could have definitely outed on Hit Somebody, but instead he goes for the old reliable of Clerks III, which has a built in audience? It's transparent.

Re: Clerks III (Smith, Sometime this Decade)

I'm ready for it, I love all things Clerks (it's a shame the animated series only got 6 episodes, not even the 13 half season most animated series get these days).

Re: Clerks III (Smith, Sometime this Decade)

I'm not against the idea of a Clerks 3, but I'd rather see it in 5 years. Clerks came out in 1994 and Clerks 2 in 2006, and I think that passing of time gave it whatever weight it had.

Re: Clerks III (Smith, Sometime this Decade)

I think enough time has passed. I'd like to see it out in October 2014, 20 years after the release of Clerks.

I also wish it would be in black and white, just so I can have the oppertunity to see another movie at the theater in black and white.
