Big Trouble in Little China.
I know it did shit at the box office...but they left it wide open for a sequel.

Dick Tracy
(also another vote for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?)
I would've also have been interested in the Ferris Bueller sequel that was rumored a few years back.

I think sequels to both Galaxy Quest and The Incredibles would have a similar problem: they'd just be a typical adventure (albeit a scifi space movie or a superhero movie). Since the characters all discovered their strengths by the end of each movie, a sequel would have to find some sort of creative quirk to keep the humour going so it wouldn't just be a generic movie. I loved both of these but I can't help but think they're better off solo.
Also I wish Pixar would focus more of their creative efforts on original movies instead of all these sequels they're doing lately.

As for a sequel, after that ending, I have no idea where you could go with it besides a regular old superhero adventure movie.
Kinda funny, this type of thread has probably been popping up on the internet since the old usenet days, and for so long my stock answer would have been sequels to Return of the Jedi....

Batman. The one with Adam West.
And, Cloverfield. I would love some more Cloverfield footage to pop up.

DICK TRACY is like one of those movies that one likes and doesn't care to see again. I would not invest money to produce sequel for DICK TRACY or RABBIT.

Not every movie that makes a shit load of money should have a sequel just for shits and giggles.
I'm talking about those that have characters/story arcs that leave room for more, but just never got another movie for whatever reason.

Titanic could get a sidequel or whatever. I'm sure there are ton of stories that can be told on the ship. Granted the love story is probably the biggest moneymaker. But you can apply different genres to it. Pretty sure there was a video game that had some kind of mystery angle.

The First Wives Club. It was quite the zeitgeist hit in '96. There was talk of a sequel but nothing ever happened.

There was a Cannonball Run III. It was called Speed Zone in the US:

Roger Rabbit really should get a sequel. Think about all the new characters they could add: Woody, Buzz, Nemo, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Spongebob, the Simpsons, Pedobear (okay, just kidding about Pedobear), maybe even from South Park and Family Guy.
