Side Effects (2/8/13, Dir: Soderbergh)
A woman turns to prescription medication as a way of handling her anxiety concerning her husband's upcoming release from prison. Rooney Mara as Emily Hawkins Channing Tatum as Emily Hawkins' husband Jude Law as a psychiatrist Catherine Zeta-Jones as Dr. Erica Siebert <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cEQDMFveSbQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Soderbergh w/ Mara..ok...you've got my interest. This was called The Bitter Pill, so they changed titles. Not sure why but they did. I heard of this film under TBP. Thought we had a thread on it but the advanced search brought up nothing for me so maybe we mentioned it in here once. |

Soderbergh = my butt in a seat.
Soderbergh + Mara, Tatum, Law = my butt in a seat with bells on. |

As one of the few who loved Haywire, I can't wait to see what's next.

Re: Side Effects (2/8/13, Dir: Soderbergh)
Soderbergh remains the hardest working retired director I've ever seen. Motherfucker's made more movies since his retirement than he did when he was working!

Re: Side Effects (2/8/13, Dir: Soderbergh)
Looks good. I'm a sucker for anything with Steven Soderbergh's name attached to it.

Re: Side Effects (2/8/13, Dir: Soderbergh)
Rooney Mara is the new Natalie Portman. I'm okay with that. However, that trailer is way, way too vague. It's like one those Mad Men clips advertising the next episode.

So we're in agreement: Kate Mara is the new Keira Knightley.

Also if nobody has checked this out yet, they should. Good interview Steven Soderbergh on Quitting Hollywood, Getting the Best Out of J-Lo, and His Love of Girls: http://www.vulture.com/2013/01/steve...versation.html |
Re: Side Effects (2/8/13, Dir: Soderbergh)
Ebert ends his 3.5 star review of this movie with: "Soderbergh came, he saw, he conquered, and now he's moving on."
Also this minor spoiler sounds nice (from that interview) Spoiler:
