I'll ask again, what am I extrapolating? All I am doing is asking questions and commenting on the look of what is actually in the preview.
EDIT, and yeah, I thought the little soccer ball bouncing along with an R2-D2 head looked genuinely funny. As in, "that's pretty fucking funny" not "look at that stupid shit."
This very short teaser looks like a fun movie. Could it suck? Sure it could. But I'm already seeing things that look more like this is going to get it right, at least visually.
Look at the X-Wing shot. That is real background plate photography of a body of water, mountains and fog. It looks real. That's really all I hope to get out of this, some decent acting and a world that feels like it really exists.
But I guess if it doesn't look like a cartoon with thousands of CGI character armies battling it out then some folks are going to be dissapointed.
Or not. Shit, I dunno.

ITT: So much hyperbole. I'll bet half you guys said the same shit about the PT trailers looking awesome.
As a teaser, it's decent. I don't consider the Falcon a money shot worth getting worked up over. Now, had they shown flash-cut glimpses of the original three, then we'd have some legit hype.

It is a teaser that didn't reveal much of anything, since Spaceballs seems popular today I'll say you can't extrapolate shit from it.

I came...
Loved every single second of it. Even if the hilt on the saber makes no sense the actual blade itself looks like a light saber should have actually looked like for all these years. Not a single smooth beam of light which never made any sense.

Being a bitter-ass motherfucker about the OOT, I tried very hard to dislike this teaser. I couldn't. When the Falcon came on, I smiled. I didn't want to, but I did. Ah.

Even my brother who doesn't give a rats ass about Star Wars went "whoa" when the Falcon shot came on.

You sure are extrapolating a lot from this teaser!

I loved it. Loved the XWings and the Falcon. Liked that we got only new characters. Great teaser.

Definitely a good thing they aren't focusing on the older characters. If people don't think they are going to be getting the equivalent of Crystal Skull era Karen Allens with those guys (with the possible exception of Hamill), they're fooling themselves. Anything more than cameos from Ford and Fisher is likely to be very embarrassing. And even cameos will likely drag the forward momentum of the narrative down while the audience is allowed to gawk at 'their old favorites'.
Abrams is smart not to show off the original cast in the teaser.

at first I thought that ball was part of the droid (i.e. how he got around) but upon second viewing it seems you folks are right. Its a roomba on a soccer ball.
I'm not sure if I like the rectangular-shaped antenna dish on the Falcon. Maybe a tie fighter will shoot it off and we can go back to the round one

It was alright. Didn't expect much from a teaser, but a shot or two of the original cast would've been nice.
I did like the fact that it seems to be going more along the lines of the OOT, by not including actual "Episode xxx" for the title. Just hope this turns out the way I'd like it to. Can't wait for the actual trailer.

The cast seemed fine.
Some things seemed odd though, like all the ships flying around Tatooine. I hope the movie doesn't stay there for too long. You think a planet comprised of sand would have gotten old by now. I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere .... o wait, sorry!

Word I'm hearing is that it's more likely Andy Serkis doing the VO. I could buy that.
And I loved just about everything in that trailer, goofy droid and all. It's new. It's Star Wars. It's official.
That's all I need.

The broadsword light saber was cool but how the fuck would you keep it from shaving your thumbs right off? I know it's fantasy but functionality plays a part. Are we sure Lucas didn't consult on this project?

It's long as hell too. I'm wondering if that is some kind of ancient Sith.
