Keep doing Dancing With The Stars or be in the new Star Wars film. Decisions, decisions.

According to the Star Wars wiki, Chewbacca was born 200 years before A New Hope.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Chewbacca

The VII-IX trilogy is supposed to be 30 years after Return of the Jedi, so Chewie is only about 240 years old. He's still a young whippersnapper.

I wonder if Wookies are more like dogs or cats? When you die do you have to worry about them eating you right away or a few weeks?

I'm guessing his appearance was just promotional for the new film, and they never figured he would get voted back for a second week

Chewie's knees, Lando's back... lol... oh man.. it is hard to face the reality that most of these actors are nearing or well over 70. (Billy leading the way at 77!) Let's make one more go of it... we never got the sequel trilogy everyone dreamed of... but if we can get everyone on screen one last time for a proper send-off, I'll be happy!

oh sweet Jesus, Mayhew will be 70 next month!!! Wow.

I thought Ford was a bit older than Williams. I hope they get Billy back, too.

If you guys can locate the blacklist script about an account of Peter Mayhew landing the role of Chewie, it's worth reading. Story weaves between his time working in a hospital and trying to get time off filming Star Wars, while interacting with the cast and crew.

Does anyone here go back and forth on whether they think the Sequel Trilogy will be good or not? Somedays I hear rumors and I get real pysched and can't wait for next December, and then other days I think of old Ford, Fisher, Hamill, Mayhew, and possibly Billy Dee Williams, and I think this could be a trainwreck.

Not really. Until plot points start to become confirmed it's a waste to worry much. It's just a movie and we still have the OT. I trust Abrams enough that it will be better than the prequels.

Don't we have enough blockbusters with 20 somethings running around in them? There's something to be said for a studio and director who want to invest so heavily in a story that features actors in the twilight of their careers. I'm excited about the idea.

Besides, they're still going to be introducing a lot of new, younger characters in this film...it's just a way of passing the torch.

Indy 4, while not loved by many, made huge money based on nostalgia alone. Having all these older actors back will probably have the same effect if the film looks halfway decent.

Yeah, I doubt Luke, Leia, and Han are going to be the main characters in the new sequel. Their 20 year old kids will be. The original characters will just be there passing the torch.

Anyway, just because they're past their prime doesn't mean it will suck. Rocky 6 and Rambo 4 were great movies. Although Indiana Jones 4 did suck, but that was because the script itself sucked and not because Indy was old. It really depends more on the script than the age of the actors.

My feelings on this are the same as with the Hobbit trilogy. Didn't need it; didn't want it. I'll see it when it comes out but I have no excitement for it. Which is truly sad for me as I was very excited about seeing the LOTR films and even the prequels - all three of them.

Star Wars in its current form (prequels, special editions original trilogy) is shit. J.J. Abrams two Star Trek films are shit. Yeah, this is going to be great.

They better not kill Chewie. I stopped reading the EU after they killed him the books saving bratty ass kids.

That was the point where I felt the books really took off, giving some real gravity to a series where all of the major heroes were still going strong despite constant danger.

Exactly. The novels before Chewie's demise didn't have any tension. There was nothing at stake. Everyone always survived.

I agree. The New Jedi Order series was good. It wasn't formulaic like the 90s Bantam era of EU. The NJO had tension because characters could actually die. It also finally had some cool new villains that weren't Sith or generic dark side baddies.

The only really bad thing about the NJO was that it was just too long. It was 19 books in total, so a lot of it was filler. The EU after the NJO is also better left forgotten.

Even though Lucas is just an 'advisor' for this trilogy, The Prequels and Special Editions and even parts of Return of Jedi have given me doubts that these movies can still be great.

I guess that Star Wars and Empire were SO great that anything less in quality is a disappointment.

Look, the prequels have already irrevocably tainted the series. The new trilogy can't be any worse, or do any more harm.

Yeah. No way this could be worse. Jesus. Episode 3 is like a comedy just by how shitty the dialogue is there is.

That's like practically double dog daring them to come up with a worse character than Jar Jar.

Even if the new trilogy is as bad as the prequels story-wise (and I don't believe they'll be THAT bad), the new series of films will still have an advantage in that we won't already know how it ends (one of the huge problems of any prequel flick).

New name being thrown around by the trades: Maisie Richardson-Sellers. A complete unknown with only theater work and a short film to her credit. The Hollywood Reporter article mentions the "Kenobi descendant" role as being unfilled, so this may be the same part Lupita was being considered for last month.

With all these casting rumors, seems like the new movie is just about how Lando got pussy across the universe.
