Looking for Independent Film Recommendations

Getting a little bored with the usual Hollywood schlock-fest. Lately I've been seeking out indy films. Have recently seen:
- Another Earth
- Sound of My Voice
- Safety not Guaranteed
Would like to find others of such quality and would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

Re: Looking for Independent Film Recommendations

In Bruges
Young Adult
The Ghost Writer
A Better Life
Battle In Seattle
The Runaways
Persepolis
I'm Not There
The Divide
Kill List
The Boat That Rocked
Breathless
Awakening
Catch .44
Rapt
Mandrill

Some of these may seem like big budget affairs, but these were all made for little money and some feature big name actors even though the films could still be considered independent.

Hell yes. The long version is an epic journey of a film that makes me happy every time I see it. The power of music and rock 'n roll.

A Better Life made me cry like a baby. I was born without tear ducts.

Re: Looking for Independent Film Recommendations

I'm no longer positive what is considered Indie or Studio so some of these may be studio. Recommended no less.

Midnight in Paris
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Martha Marcy May Marlene
Take Shelter
Moonrise Kingdom
Submarine
Compliance
The Master
Bernie (I think it's a bit overrated but it's still decent)
Moon
Little Miss Sunshine
Winter's Bone
Black Swan

The low budget variety:
Insidious ($1.5m budget)
Better Luck Tomorrow (10 years old, $250,000 budget)
Tiny Furniture ($25,000 budget)
Paranormal Activity ($15,000 budget)
Primer ($7,000 budget)

The New York Times reviews at least a dozen new indie films released in NYC every Friday. Those reviews can be found on-line and might be helpful to you.
