Weekend Box Office (10/5 - 10/8) - Columbus Day Weekend! It's still a thing, I think?

4. Looper (FilmDistrict/Sony) Week 2 [2,993 Runs] R
Friday $3.5M (-49%), Weekend $11.6M, Cume $39.7M
5. Frankenweenie 3D (Disney) NEW [3,005 Runs] PG

6. Trouble with the Curve (Warner Bros) Week 3 [3,003 Runs] PG13

7. End Of Watch (Open Road) Week 3 [2,370 Runs] R
Friday $1.1M, Weekend $3.7M, Cume $32.6M
8. House At End Of Street (Relativity) Week 3 [2,720 Runs] PG13
Friday $1.1M, Weekend $3.7M, Cume $27.6M
9. The Master (Weinstein) Week 4 [864 Runs] R

10. Perks Of Being Wallflower (Summit) Week 3 [221 Runs] PG13
Friday $482K, Weekend $1.4M, Cume $3.2M
Besson should feel embarrassed for giving Taken 2 to Megaton and ruining what could have been a lucrative franchise. Megaton has stated in the past he doesn't like action movies to begin with. Neeson gets away unscathed at least and that is a huge opening.
Frankenweenie will need some serious legs.
Looper will probably be down around 45%, not bad for an R rated Sci-fi flick.
Good hold for Hotel Transylvania.
WTF is Pitch Perfect?
Impressive haul for Perks of Being a Wallflower considering it's only in 221 theaters.

I'm kinda surprised at Frankenweenie's placement. The weenie should rise up a bit though, it being Saturday and all. I don't really know though. I just wanted to type out weenie should rise up.

Weenie should get bigger as it gets closer to Halloween.

Seems like Neeson rocks being Neeson that not even a bad film can critique him being awesome.
Also...poor Dredd.

Wait huh? Ruined franchise and huge opening in the same sentence? Its double the opening of the original.

Based on the Taken 2 reviews I've been seeing, that huge opening number should enjoy a huge drop next weekend once WOM gets out that it blows. I really enjoyed the first one, but I don't have much desire to see this one at all. Maybe on HBO or something.

Hotel Trannsylvania is going to make a hundred million dollars. Adam Sandler is either a genius or the luckiest idiot in Hollywood the way his movies perform at the BO.

I think at this stage in the game, we can say it's the former. Dude knows his audience.

I can't help but wonder if Weenie was released prematurely. By Halloween, it may have already shot its wad.

I think Weenie's flaccid opening illustrates the vas deferens from Burton's old, rock solid output versus increasingly limp offerings lately.

Frankenweenie is getting terrific reviews, and deservedly so.
The black-and-white is box office poison.

I like that weenie is in 3-D. I hope I don't get an eye poked out!
