UGHHHHH.
I really wished I didn't see the $13.4 million take. Fucking hell. I really hope that BD is packed as fuck at least cuz well...yeah...that's the end of Dredd.

Wow, that sucks. I thought the domestic total was higher than that, somewhere in the 30s. I saw Dredd and thought it was a blast. What the hell was wrong with North American audiences? It was right up the male demographics' alley, but it looked like everyone ignored it. Could we really blame this on the stigma from Stalone's version? Do mainstream audiences today even know there was a Stalone version? And for what it's worth, I watched the Stalone version of couple weeks ago and, honestly, I didn't think it was that bad. I thought it was a pretty entertaining action movie. Yeah, Rob Schneider was annoying, but he's annoying regardless of what he's in. I'm wondering if Dredd might end up being one of those movies that does better on video (I'm hoping it does).

I don't think people not seeing this is indicative of anything about American audiences. There's plenty of reasons why this bombed which have been discussed already here. Little known character, Stallone's version, poor advertising, etc.

I will be buying the 3D Blu-ray at whatever price they decide to release it at. I suggest you all do the same.

I'll be buying the 3-D, 2-D, and UK import/steelbook.
I am turning down screeners for this one.

Dredd opened here (Australia) to $800K in 198 theaters. Adjusted for theaters, that's like a $12.6MM opening in the US. However, ticket prices here can be $15–$25, so it's really more like $8MM equivalent in the US.
So... better, but only marginally.

I have to admit, I loved Dredd. Great, high octane action, and finally I can rid myself of the image of Sylvester Stallone in the role (the movie wasn't bad, but very typical of 1990s action). I know some complained about Urban's line delivery (hell even his chin) but I thought he did great with limited development (adhering to the comic book from what I understand) and Headey was effective as an interesting but prototypical villain. But above all else, the visual effects especially during the "slo-mo" sequences was amazing.
As 'Mallet said, this is an easy Day 1 purchase.

No actually companies holding your on-line content hostage when they want to get paid again is the future.
I'm sure Netflix has appreciated Amazon's Cloud system with two major outages this year. (Why they didn't build their own infrastructure make no sense... Then again, they probably don't have enough liquid assets...)

Saw this today and I loved it.
Loved Lena Headey in this film. Definitely will be picking it up on BD when it releases next month!

Decent but not anywhere as good as I was hoping. The incessant killings in the corridors made me think I was watching a friend play Quake after a while. But it passed the time, I guess. Don't get all the love for it on this forum.

BTW, if anyone knows the name or artist of the song that's playing in the apartment during the Dredd/Anderson raid PLEASE let me know. It's not on the actual score. It's a real fast trance song - they emphasize it when the two junkies take a hit off of the slo-mo - the volume fluctuates.
I can't post the YT link but the URL end is watch?v=I2dfGC1oziE
