LOL! My thoughts exactly! 300 sucked. It only got any cred because of it's visual style.

Sullivan Stapelton is in this? That's enough to get me to see this. Damien Scott represent!

Re: 300: Battle of Artemisia (2013)

This has to be one of the oddest under-the-radar films I can think of... I didn't even know it was going forward let alone releasing in August. They went the cheaper route obviously, and I'd expect it to look like that... but if it's well done I'd still be interested.

Well, it's a prequel, so maybe 299 would be more appropriate.

It's actually the sequel:

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

Wow, it's coming out in August? There doesn't seem to be any buzz or much news about this at all.

Re: 300: Battle of Artemisia (2013)

You would think that instead of taking on huge, separate armies with only 300 guys at a time, they would gather all their soldiers together for a more even battle.

Re: 300: Battle of Artemisia (2013)

^ I figured it would take place right after 300 when the rest of the armies had been regrouped and take on Xerxes. Hell, they even start to show that at the very end of 300 anyway.

Re: 300: Battle of Artemisia (2013)

I was wondering why they didn't try to at least mimic the original's release date. It would've just gotten lost in August I think. Hope it's good!

Re: 300: Battle of Artemisia (2013)

I think everyone knew that release date was going to get bumped - with no trailer at all yet, no way was this thing opening in August.

No strong Leonidas-esque lead, rehashed story. I'll bet this takes in domestically what the first film did in its OW.
