Love Prince of the City and Q&A.
Both underrated Lumet films.

Re: Five Favorite Directors?

These are the 5 directors who I always look forward to see what they are doing next. I havent seen a whole lot of movies prior to the 80s so im leaving a whole bunch of directors off my list.

Steven Spielberg
Guillermo Del Toro
David Fincher
Christopher Nolan
Danny Boyle

Based upon your list the only director I would consider top 25 material would be Kubrick.
John Waters is one of my favorite directors. He consistently directs hilarious films with over the top occurrences and unforgettable actors.

I would in no way call him one of the best directors of all time, though.

Yeah 'best' and 'favorite' can and often should be worlds apart.

yes...Ed Wood is one of my favorite directors and I constantly re-watch his films but he would not make anybody's best director list.

Re: Five Favorite Directors?

My top five, along with my favorites films, my very favorite film first:

Alfred Hitchcock (The Birds, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Psycho, Spellbound, Marnie, many more)
Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West...hell, all of them!)
The Coens (Miller's Crossing, A Serious Man, The Big Lebowski, The Hudsucker Proxy)
Sam Peckinpah (The Wild Bunch, Ride the High Country, Straw Dogs)
Orson Welles (Citizen Kane (of course), Touch of Evil, Magnificent Ambersons, The Stranger)

Also one of these will occasionally take a spot in the top five, depending on where I'm at:

Billy Wilder
Sam Fuller
Errol Morris
Brian De Palma
Peter Greenaway
