They were both pretty average movies, but Avengers felt like it could have been an episode of the cartoon series. When you think about it, there's nothing really at stake. Okay, so the world is under attack by monsters. Is there anyone in this world we really care about? no. The movie never does that. Is there any reason to assume that they might lose? is there anything to suggest that there might be consequences even if they win?
The whole movie also felt flat and bland. And I'm really tired of the stupid superhero trope of "when heroes meet, there's a misunderstanding so they fight!". Especially when it's abundantly clear who the victor should be.
