Except for the "casually walking away from an explosion" cliché, it looks fan-fucking-tastic.

He's 60 this year, time for him to enter the Liam Neeson phase of his career. Oh wait he's been doing that off and on for 20 years.

Looks pretty badass.
Too bad Edward Woodward passed 5 years ago. It would have been cool if he got a cameo in this.

I hope the title card features the theme track from the TV show.

I would soooo prefer this with Jason Statham in the title role. Or, hell, Liam Neeson!

Meh I wouldn't I'll Denzel over both of them. Statham is not that good of an actor. Neeson has worn out this role and hasn't done anything good since the first Taken in a role like this. Denzel is better than both.

Every Denzel Washington movie/performance seems the same these days. Yawnsville. I agree that Statham would have been better. I know his performances are also always the same, but seems better suited for this role.
Also, is it just me or is there something weird with Denzels teeth these days? They always seem too big for his damn mouth whenever i see him talking.

Sony is already planning a sequel based on test screenings. I didn't want to start that new thread until this one came out. They were unwise to sign Denzel for sequels, so it will be interesting if they can do so affordably.

It could be alright. I've been iffy with Washington's stuff. Aside from Flight being the last one for me...it's been a while since I cared for a film with him.

The trailer in Post #51 is the one they played in front of HERCULES in August. It's better than the one in Post #56 because it doesn't have that friggin' Eminem song, which ruins the second trailer. I think I'll pass on this film, it looks too generic. Haven't all the Liam Neeson action films in the last few years trampled this theme to death?

Saw the trailer for this at the theater yesterday (the one in post 51 above). Definitely interested — I really like Man on Fire — I'll catch it on the opening weekend.

I give Neeson a pass because he was just keeping busy filming things without account for quality while moving forward after Natasha's death.
You can see it still affects him in this 60 Minutes interview from earlier this year.

Yeah. I'm not going to attack Neeson on that. Yes. His films have been whatever since his wife's death but if that's the way he copes is to just work. Then let him do it.
But I would like to see Neeson in more quality films though. But I get his reasoning to just do whatever now.

Yeah and they all stunk. Can we get over Liam Neeson. Like he is the only one that can do these types of movies. You have somewhat of a point if those movies were actually good save the 1st Taken but they aren't. Movies like this came before Neeson and will continue after and without him. There is plenty of room for movies like this Neeson doesn't own this type of movie and never did.
For me, something new would be an actor doing something he hasn't done before, kind of like the way Edward Woodward came off in the original TV show--this wasn't what he was famous for yet he sure pulled it off. Or Neeson in TAKEN. Or when Matt Damon did the first Bourne film, it was something new. We hadn't seen him do that before and the action was very well staged and Damon was good in it. Or Kurt Russell in ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK--he'd done comedies and TV movies and TV westerns up to that point.
Or, on the other hand, a film like this would be a good way to introduce a new action star the way ABOVE THE LAW gave us Steven Seagal back in 1988 (remember the excitement that generated? I do), or Van Damme in whatever he did that first attracted attention, or Jeff Speakman in THE PERFECT WEAPON.

Jeff Speakman? Like what has that guy done? At least give someone like Sho Kosugi or Dudikoff credit for doing ninja movies and their sequels.
I don't remember any sequels to Perfect Weapon.
