The second one was the deepest and most complex of the trilogy.

You got a bag for your dicks? I just got dicks with nothing to carry them in besides my anal cavity.

I'll jump the gun (and some wishful thinking) and say Kill Bill.

Re: what you think are the best trilogies in films ?

So this isn't actually a best trilogies thread? Apparently some people are just cherry picking their three favorite films in a film series and calling them a trilogy.

Wasn't aware it was one. I've often seen the other three referred to as a trilogy. Maybe not.

I consider the first three Dirty Harry films a trilogy. They were released at a fairly quick pace. The eight years until Sudden Impact makes it a "resurrection" of the character/series.

Yeah i'm down with 70s Harry. More of the post-hippie freewheeling vibe is a world apart from the latter ones.

My favorite 70's horror film trilogy is....

The Exorcist
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Halloween

That was a great trilogy.

John Wayne's Republic War Trilogy
Flying Tigers
Sands Of Iwo Jima
Fighting Seabees

What about the three Harryhausen/Sinbad films? Too many years between the first and last two to seem like a trilogy to me.

Also, I'm kicking myself for not mentioning:

Yoji Yamada's 'Samurai Trilogy'

Hiroshi Inagaki's 'Samurai Trilogy'.
I picked this up on dvd from the library knowing nothing about these films. Fantastic, I watched them numerous times and had a nice hefty late fee. Mifune was at his best here. This and BTTF with the edge to The Samurai Trilogy.
