Since when does a movie studio give a shit about an audience? If they did do you think Keanu Reeves would have been Hellblazer or Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull would have ever been made. It's about money. You'll see it regardless and even if you don't the international box office, tv rights, video games, and dvd/blu ray sales will make it at least break even.

Crystal Skull never struck me as a studio movie, it seemed like it was made by a big kid who wanted to entertain but royally missed the mark.

I'm taking a leap here, but I think the audience likes how interconnected all these 'solo' movies are into a larger MCU universe. If Wright/Feige couldn't get that sorted out, then I think Feige made the right call by sticking to the MCU.

based on what? Edgar and Feige disagreeing about the script and Wright leaving? This film was going to be a part of the MCU, and if Wright was unwilling to put in certain things, then it was best for both parties to go their separate ways.
Feige has to worry about the entire MCU, Marvel has a large timeline with all of it's properties. Like Gunn said, not every relationship works out.

Maybe it's no coincidence that none of the directors want to work for Marvel multiple times, outside of Whedon, who seems to have more control, and Favreu who eventually dropped out of IM3.

Wright is a great director. He had the whole movie done already. That's how he is. Losing him at this point in time is crazy. 8 years officially on this. He did other stuff but still.

All about the execution of it. Based on the test that Wright showed off... Looked like they had it down visually.

8 years on ANT-MAN? Alot of time to waste on a movie that will flop

Maybe. Maybe not.
But for 8 years he was, I'm assuming somehow, paid to work on it. For almost the whole time they were pleased with him and his work. Marvel wasn't going to blame him for a failure. Marvel was with him that long? They didn't feel failure.
As we have seen before, if they felt skittish about something they change it. But for that long... They loved his work. And they didn't see failure. Whether it happens or not. That doesn't matter right now. They've wanted this thing to go. And go they will.

Peyton Reed is currently the front runner to direct.
Funny considering Fox fired him (and Clooney) from Fantastic Four years ago as they wanted to set it in the '60s.

Also, Reed is scheduled to direct The Fifth Beatle based off of the EXCELLENT graphic novel.

I completely agree. And after Down with Love, he should've gotten the gig rather than that hack Tim Story.
On that note, good job Reed.
McKay has also been hired on to polish up the script before filming begins next month.

I didn't think Yes Man was that good. What else has the guy done?

Bring It On - which is one of my favorite movies of all time. This is a good pick for Ant-Man.

I liked Yes Man. I also liked The Break Up. His movies definitely seem less wacky then some of the other directors names.
