I can just see warner suits looking at that material and imagining how to improve it

"and he's angry about something. He needs to be brooding. Somebody killed somebody close to him- he went off into space and now he's back...to save his planet as only a warrior trained in space can."
"yeah I like that! How about this- what if the guy who trains him is also the bad guy that comes back later to challenge him?"
"Those supporting aliens look kind of silly though. maybe we should just make them AI characters he interacts with on his computer in his cave/fortress/strategy room."
Token DC consultant sagely nods in agreement.
"sounds great to me guys. Say, which room were the hookers and blow in again?"

That remains to be seen. When I told my friend last night that they were premiering the full trailer on Kimmel tonight he replied with "Hey, guess what? I don't fucking know who they are." I'm sure 95% of mainstream audiences are the same.
I don't think the film will suck, but will definitely be a trial run for MU's cosmic heroes and their viability.
