Just caught this on basic cable. Was totally into it. Loved the ending - really appreciated how it didn't turn into a loud chase sequence like most horror movies. A+ soundtrack. As pointed out in other posts, some of the logic falls apart if you over analyze.

Saw this last night because my girlfriend wanted to check out some of the director's other work before we see the Black Phone. I enjoyed it. It has a creepy atmosphere and a great score. You know, I never really liked Ethan Hawke's acting, but he's starting to grow on me. My big gripe is that I know it's a horror movie, gotta create tension, yada yada, but a real person in that situation would've turned on some damn lights. The house was always sooo dark, even when he was just sitting at his desk, video chatting with the occult expert.

All that said, the movie should've been called "Cozy" because of the cable knit cardigan Hawke wears throughout it.

Exorcism of Emily Rose is the director's best work, IMO. If you haven't checked that out you should - get the unrated version if you can find it. I still have the DVD of that because they botched the subtitles for the demons speaking on the BD.
