That's awesome that they got all those classic bad guys together.

I agree, was the highlight of the trailer.

There was a big display for this at E3. Looks pretty neat and creative.

Same thing happened with the John Carter thread and it never got fixed.

I'm sure this will be attached to Brave. I want to check it out, but I think I'll wait for the big screen and see it for the first time with the kiddos.

and that was the only fun part for me. The rest seemed like generic fluff...didn't help w/ that song going either.

I thought the exact opposite. It seems like an obvious rip-off of Toy Story and the old TV show Reboot.

I don't really see the connection to Toy Story, other then inanimate objects being alive I guess. I don't know, I guess I like the take of video game characters just being jobs

It certainly looks better to me than a lot of the CG stuff that non-Pixar studios put out.

I loved that concept. This movie looks really cute. I'll probably end up seeing it.

New trailer. Still excited for this.

I'm pretty excited for this still too. It looks like it should be a fun time and it's pretty cool that Disney was able to get the rights to all those video game villains/heroes to use in this.

Just got out of seeing this. It was pretty entertaining, references were well done, and I will say that the 3D during the end credits is great.

Good to hear. I'm not excited for it, but my daughter wants to see it, so I know we'll be going.

Great news. Looking forward to it even more. Thanks for the heads up, bluetoast.

Interested, but not particularly excited about it. It looks like it'll be a 'good but not great' type of film... and the bar for animated films for me is pretty high these days.

No prob Roc. Forgot to mention that there was a short attached to it called Paperman which was pretty good. Got a little weird near the end though. But it looked great.

It's been a while since there's been a great animated movie.

Will it play well to old-school gaming geeks, like myself? :D

The last great animated movie for me was How to Train Your Dragon. I'm still excited about this, because of the video game angle. I'm a sucker for eating up those references.

I'm not necessarily a fan of animated films, but my gf and I both want to see this opening weekend. Looks like a lot of fun.

Yes, there are a ton of old school references, both from the NES era and a lot of early 80's Arcade things happening as well. The animation when they are in Fix it Felix's arcade machine is stilted, as if the characters are moving a few frames at a time (except Ralph and Felix). I really liked that, it almost reminded me of claymation. When some frosting gets splattered, the splashes are polygonal. That was a great touch.

A few of my favorites:

Spoiler:

The Konami code is in the movie.
Ralph pays a visit to Tapper and tells his woes to the bartender over a root beer.
End credits: This features a variety of things but my favorite: Ralph, in sprite form, participates in the bonus level car bash from Street Fighter II.

Also unexpectedly, there are a lot of real word food references. Specifically for Nestle products, since a lot of time is spent in the Sugar Rush game. Despite the product placement angle, those were funny as well.

Sounds like something I need to see with a bunch of devout gamers; those are wet dream levels of geekdom.

Re: Disney: Wreck-It Ralph

Saw this tonight and I really liked it too. I'd like to see it again to see if I can catch more of the gaming references thrown all over the movie. As someone who spent his teen years in the 80s in the arcade, this brought back fond memories of all of those quarters that I spent on many of the games referenced. I liked the detailed touches such as when thing glitched they turned to binary code and as mentioned before the way the different characters moved based on when their games came out.

The product placement was insane, but it all fit into the world nicely since most of them were attached to some pretty funny gags. My wife thought the marching Oreos were hilarious. The audience at our showing laughed a lot and applauded at the end. Surprisingly, most of the theater stayed for the entire credits sequence until the very end when the Disney logo "glitched."

Can't wait for this... it's actually one of my most anticipated movies for the year.

Re: Disney: Wreck-It Ralph

I had the privilege of seeing this at a midnight showing last night. I chose to watch it in 2D so I could see all the vivid colors on display, and it did not disappoint. This is one of the best animated movies I have seen in a long time, and certainly bests any from this year in my opinion.

For video game fans, particularly fans of old school arcade games like Donkey Kong and Pac-Man, this movie is a must see. I was pretty much playing Where's Waldo in sighting iconic video game characters and homages throughout the movie. And if there ever was an award for voice work, Sarah Silverman deserves it for her fantastic contributions here.

I'm pretty sure I'll make it back out to see the 3D version as well.

Taking the kids to a 3D viewing on Sunday. Glad all the reviews are positive.

I saw this on Monday, and I liked it even more than I thought I would. I thought Vannelope would be annoying, but after her first scene she wasn't at all. Just a terrific and funny movie.

ParaNorman was only a few months ago. Children Who Chase Lost Voices, Summer Wars, and The Illusionist weren't that long ago either.

Anyways, I'm excited to see this this weekend.
