Re: Disney: Wreck-It Ralph
This movie ranks in my top five favorite animated movies of all time.
2 scenes that I LOVE:
1) When Ralph destroys the car, there's some GREAT voice acting from Sarah Silverman where she pleads with him. Man, that's a great scene.
2) Ralph's final sacrifice. Reminds me of Iron Giant.
There's great poses, animation (esp. from King Candy), and I love the video game and candy references.
THIS movie deserved the Academy Award.

Great scenes, another couple of scenes I love are:
- when Ralph is travelling on the pacman monorail
- Vanellope practicing racing.
John Reilly was great. I can still hear him saying "That crummy medal...."
McBrayer was perfect as Felix.

Finally got to see it. Awesome, awesome flick. If I didn't know it wasn't a Pixar flick, I would've thought it was. Loved all the retro gaming stuff. I'd often be paying attention to the backgrounds more than the movie. The pause feature is also cool, where Chris Hardwick, talks about some of the hidden and behind the scenes stuff. Well worth the purchase.

We finally watched this yesterday on Bluray. When we paused it right before the third act to refresh snacks, the intermission bit with Chris Hardwick came up with all the Easter eggs and other cool stuff hidden in the movie. We ended up watching this this for almost 10 minutes before starting the movie back up. What a cool feature!

The movie that completely contradicted itself? "Hey kids, don't prejudge other creatures! We thought these dragons were evil until we tried to understand them! Then we teamed up with the dragons to kill the super monster dragon that we just assumed was super evil and didn't bother to try and understand!"

Figured fans might like this hand drawn test animation. The bad news is that the animator (who has been there for over 24 years) was let go yesterday as part of cutbacks in April:

Is it only on the 2D disc or the 3D disc as well?

It's not really hidden. You just select "Disney Intermission" from the main menu and it pops up anytime you press the pause button during the film. It's on my 2D disc.
Aside from Tangled, this is the only other Disney animated title I've seen from the last fifteen years. Really a cute little movie, but now I have that darn Sugar Rush song from the end credits stuck in my head: "S-U-G-A-R, Jump into your racing car!"

With these movies making so much money, one would hope Disney would not have to fire veteran animators.

The death of hand drawn animation really is sad. I remember going to MGM studios and seeing all the upcoming animated features and how busy it was there. Now it's all empty desks. I'm not sure that attraction is even still open.
I really wish that the Princess and the Frog did better business then it did. It really deserved it and was a beautiful movie.

That Hardwick feature is pretty cool when you first see it, but then gets annoying that it turns on whenever you press pause... ugh.
Someone mentioned that their kids were almost too old for the movie, but it seems enjoyable for all ages. It was a little violent for my little girl; surprisingly she wasn't scared by the giant bugs but she started balling when Ralph
since it was so emotional.
She absolutely loves the Sugar Rush song... in fact, she loves the whole soundtrack, even the non vocal ones.
I thought Disney laid off most of their 2d animators some time ago (before the Pixar acquisition) when they were first moving to 3d separate from Pixar. It doesn't make much sense to get rid of the rest, as even in the article there's a clear need for 2d animators. While I love Tangled and Wreck It Ralph, it still makes me sad that they can't make a theatrical release work.
On a side note, I thought Princess and the Frog, while maybe underperforming with the theatrical release, gave them a very important IP that was otherwise missing in their Princess lineup.

Re: Disney: Wreck-It Ralph
Loved this movie, the kid likes wreck it Ralph and likes to beat down the sofa cushions and say: I'm going to wreck it!
Didn't have a issue with once the story hits sugar rush and the focus on Vanellope. It's clear to me that Ralph wanted to be a good guy and a hero. He was Vanellope's hero.
My question is how come Vanellope is not in the princess line? I think she would be popular

I thought this was bumped because of news of the sequel. That honest trailer was pretty funny though.
