AvP (2003) suddenly looks different...

... after a few seasons of Ancient Aliens. Yeah I know, hear me out. The premise of the movie is the Predators came to earth and taught mankind a few tricks. In return they were worshipped as gods. When things went, the Predators wiped out everything.

It plays on everything that von Daniken, Tsukalos and the others have said over and over again about aliens coming to earth and being worshipped as gods. I wasn't up on all that theory prior to the show.

I have no doubt all this was out there before AA. Zecharia Stitchin was around a long time before. But whoever wrote the AvP script did some very good homework.

But Paul WS Anderson is still a hack.

Isn't this the same premise as Prometheus?

...That's not homework really. It's just some neat shit you didn't know about. And they decided to put it in cuz it was neat. That's it. Also...AvP can fuck itself. Fucking trash.

Well Ridley has said his template was AVP. He believes it to be the best SF film since 2001.

His full comment, as I recall, was:

"I really believe AVP is one of the best science fiction films since 2001....it's no (bad post) though, is it?"

Sure. I look up the areas they introduce, like the mysterious ruins in Armenia or Turkey or Africa, while Tsukalos et. al go off on their crazy conspiracies. The problem with the show isn't the questions/mysteries they raise, it's the conclusions they come to.

I only caught one episode myself, but after fact-checking just that one episode I found them to full of shit. Like using a map that other experts are quite certain is a fake, and neglecting to mention that mysterious sculpting that they think are people in space-ships but are just representing houses (they conveniently neglected to show the sculpting with all of the house/farm details).

I get the entertainment aspect... but I feel sorry for anyone who buys into that giant turd of a show and thinks it is real.

Jesus, Tsukalos looks like he's barely able to keep his laughing under control.

The whole show is tongue in cheek.

Well ... yes, actually ... it was inspired by the dreadlocks flying behind the Jamaican bobsledders ...
