1) I liked the fact that they attempted (although failed) to put a twist on the horror genre 2) I liked that I saw many cheap imitations of monsters from other films that reminded me what a good horror movie has in it 3) I liked the fact that my wife and I were the only ones who were dumb enough to buy a ticket for this movie and thus could act like kids again making rude comments at the screen in the theatre without disturbing everyone around us. |

I revisit The Musketeer every now and then. The two leads don't really work, but the set design, lighting and costumes are fantastic, there are some good supporting performances, and occasionally the HK-style action scenes are pretty cool.

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
There was a germ of a good movie underneath this train wreck of a film. But, a lot of its problem is from budgetary problems and a shitty studio that they put out. I still prefer it head and shoulders above Superman III, which deliberately fucked up the Supes franchise by going all Adam West/60s Batman-level camp. Heck, I prefer over Superman Returns too with its whole "Passion of the Superman"-mentality. Just watch the brief scene in IV where they show a television set broadcasting the evening news with all the (then) cold war problems and then the camera pans back to Chris Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman watching with intense, silent concern. If only the whole rest of the movie was done with the intelligent insight of that scene--it could have been as good as I and II. |

Godzilla - yeah...the Matthew Broderick one.
1) It was awesome to see Godzilla attack a location I've been to and seen with my own eyes. 2) The lizard could really hustle and made it more exciting than a rubber suit ever was to me. 3) The teasers that led up to the film were awesome and thrilled me every damn time I saw them. |

Congo (1995)
1. Nice throwback to those exotic adventure movies from the 30s and 40s 2. Killer gorillas and laser guns 3. Future 3-time Oscar nominee Laura Linney is quite competent in the lead, which was also her first feature film lead role. ETA 4. Bruce Campbell, Ernie Hudson, & Tim Curry are all in it chewing up the scenery! |

Loved Congo. Can't leave out that it also stars Ernie Hudson and Bruce Campbell. Any movie with the both of them is pure gold.

The Man Who Knew Too Little - Bill Murray appears to be having fun in what may have been his last true comedy, pretty much everybody else is playing the straight main and has a ridiculous plot. However, Murray is hilarious and it entertained me.
