I have never seen a Friedberg and Selter movie or one of the Scary Movie films. While I know it's wrong to judge anything without having seen it, I find that I've heard so many negative things about these movies that I have zero interest in them.

What's interesting is that the Zucker brothers were actually involved with some of the Scary Movies, including the piece of shit one from this year. I might even say that Movie 43 was slightly less worse than Scary Movie V. Hell, looking them up, Friedberg and Seltzer were among the 4 writers Spy Hard with Leslie Nielson (also in some of the Scary Movies), so they've all worked together in varying ways.

I actually enjoyed Movie 43. Sure it wasn't a great movie but a fun time waster that was free on Netflix.

I don't believe Friedberg & Seltzer had anything to do with Movie 43.

No they didn't, but I was comparing it to Scary Movie V, in a general post about parody movies this year.

Scary Movie 5 was terrible in every way imagineable.

Leslie Niselen made Spy Hard watchable (along with "Weird Al" Yankovic's theme), but Pat Proft and the Zucker brothers careers have been over for quite some time. I enjoyed Wrongfully Accused (which was solely Pat Proft), but the parody genre has been dead since then for me.

The first two Scary Movies were fun to some extent, but not in the same way I would ever view something like Airplane!, The Naked Gun or Top Secret.

I watched Spy Hard again a few months ago and was suprised to see Friedberg and Seltzer's names in the opening credits. It was far from a masterpiece but its certainly better than anything crapped out since then.

Did they do Not Another Teen Movie? I enjoyed parts of that (namely the Breakfast Club parody).

@ the Gangnam style reference. They've gotten so lazy their references are outdated before they even reach the theater now. At least before it would be a couple months or so after release that the references became outdated.

I look forward to a "winning" or "Tiger blood" reference somewhere. Maybe Katniss can say "You are the weakest link, goodbye" just before she kills one of her competitors.

Wonder how many long, pointless hip-hop dance numbers will be in this one? I'll admit to having seen most of these guys' movies just because they try so hard to be funny and fail SO miserably that it amuses me. There's a fine line between being just plain awful and being so unfunny that it's like a train wreck, and they get it just right.
