So what kind of trailers did everyone get? I was quite disappointed that I didn't get either Star Wars or Bats v. Supes. I got this lovely lineup:

Ant-Man
San Andreas
Pixels
The Gift

Tomorrowland
Batman v Superman
Star Wars: The Force Awakens

A couple others I can't remember. Audience was pretty meh about BvS. Could be since most everyone there had seen it already, and also because it's not a great trailer either (though decent enough).

Is that normal? Pretty sure they make more money on the 3D, and with Avengers they can sorta do that, but still, kinda lame as these days most people prefer 2D.

The only reason I prefer 2D is because 3D makes sick in the worst way. I have to do too much prepping for 3D, ginger pills, motion sickness bands, Dramamine which makes me sleepy, even the less-drowsy formula.

Not everyone can stomach it.

I mean, I'd prefer 2D over 3D, just for the fact that you don't have to wear dark glasses inside a movie theater. You add the fact that the 3D is $5 to $8 more expensive, and the 2D becomes the far obvious choice.

Would you please tell this to Alan Smithee, DVD Talk's resident 3-D booster? He seems to think that everyone who hates 3-D has some ideological reason for opposing it.

Reading comprehension, yo.

I totally read your post as, "It's lame that people prefer 2D." It actually makes my response to you lame.

Nope, not opposed to it outside of how outrageously sick it makes me. I've only seen two 3-D movies, Tron: Legacy and Avatar, even doped up I was nauseous for the first 15 minutes and fighting sleep throughout. I feel I can't even throw my hat into the ring in the debate if it's worth more money based on quality.

It actually makes me sad. I'd like to be able to say, "This 3-D rendering sucks!", just because.

Spoiler:
Thanos doesn't burn with desire to rule the universe, he wants something else. That may explain his behavior in these movies.

Yeah, the big clue is at the end of the first Avengers movie when that dude says to him that to face the humans would be to "court death itself", to which Thanos smiles at, as he is literally in love with Death. Not the concept of death, but capital-D, Death, the literal personification of death is who Thanos is in love with and want to please. In the comics anyways. Not sure how it'll play out in the movies.

I worked an overnight shift last night and don't have the energy to see it today. I have another overnight shift tonight. Might see it tomorrow, but if not I'll see it Sunday.

Don't want to post this in the reviews thread, but did anyone see this in IMAX 3-D? Is it worth the extra money?

I've loved cinemablend's 3D reviews. They all seem pretty in-depth.

I'm going to see AOU on Sunday. I can't wait. The reviews are generally more positive than negative, so I'm expecting a fun movie.

Outside of Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel's post-converts are usually lackluster.

I saw it in IMAX 3D. The 3D was non-existent.

When Joss Whedon was shooting the post-credits stinger for Thor, he says that the 3-D equipment wasn't working properly for some reason no one could figure out, costing a lot of time and money. Personally, I think it was God telling him not to shoot in 3-D ;).

Saw the movie tonight but was disappointed that AMC Theaters, handed you a survey as you walk in that has tons of questions and one of the questions was what did you like best about the movie and then goes to give away some spoilers, although tiny as they may be, that hurt the movie going experience

Ha. That'd be a loop if "God" told him that.

I went to a Regal theater. For some reason, the first trailer was Insidious 3. I thought it was odd to see a horror movie trailer in front of a Marvel movie. The rest were:

Tomorrowland
Jurassic World
FF4
Pixels
Ant-Man
Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Mission: Impossible 5

a truncated version of Ant-Man and Tomorrowland. :(

I recall Tomorrowland, Jurassic World, Pixels, Ant-Man, Fantastic Four, and Man from UNCLE at mine.

Re: The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015, Whedon)

Jurassic World
Tomorrowland
Ant Man
Star Wars
San Andreas
Fantastic 4
Spectre

Damn, they played a lot of trailers in front of my screening.

Who determines which trailers get to play? I'm going to guess that Ant Man and Tomorrowland were mandatory as they are Marvel and Disney releases. Does the theatre chain get to pick the rest?
