Anyone taking Young Kids to Avengers?
My 5yr old son is really excited to see this movie. We've been planning for it for a while.
I've read some of the reviews for parents and it seems questionable.
I'm trying to decide whether to wait till video or just go in and cover eyes during any bad parts.
I've heard it's mostly action violence with very little gore, but there are a couple deaths.
Thoughts?

I work at a school and one of my six year old students says that he's going to go see it. Says he's seen Iron Man, Thor, etc already.

I can't decide what's right for your kid or not, but there's definitely deaths that are not just "cartoon" deaths (there's blood).

Took my 8 year old who's on the sensitive side, and he loved it although he covered his eyes a few times.

My 4 year old daughter knows about Batman from the T-Shirts of the boys in her preschool. I thought "Maybe I should show her some batman." But even the cartoon is too intense for a 4 year old. I showed her the Adam West 1960's version. She liked it. She doesn't get that it's a comedy. Perfect level of action for a 4 year old and dad can laugh at the camp sillyness and oogle Lee Merriweather--Meeooow!

For me personally...all the Marvel Studio ones are free game. I wouldn't show my kid the Nolan Batman film till a certain age....whichever age that would be for me.

I'm considering taking my three year old. I'm definitely going by myself first to determine if its fine. Me personally, I think it depends on the kid.

I think the issue is that those movies were made for us when we were kids...and now they're still made for us as adults.
Though Star Wars has some fairly intense moments. Anyway, I might take my 8-year-old to this but not my 6-year-old.

I took my 4 year old son and 11 year old daughter to Starship Troopers. They liked it, we even got the action figures. This is just a damn comic book. They'll be fine.

Totally depends on the kid. I've been taking my son to action films since he was 3 (when I discovered he could sit quietly and enthralled throughout 2+ hour film). He's 9 now and the last movie we saw was Act of Valor (which we both loved). Avengers should be quite tame in comparison.

You could check out "MovieMom", she writes reviews specifically from the viewpoint of a parent. Here's her Avengers review.

ok so...i'm going to sound like an asshole, and I can easily live w/ that, but..these parent reviews.
I can't help but laugh at this. Really? REALLY?
Family discussion: Why was it so hard for the Avengers to learn to work together? What was the most important thing they had in common?

If my kids were old enough to sit thru a movie at the theater (My twins are 3, and I don't think they're quite there yet), and interested, I would absolutely take them.
