Dukes of Hazzard reboot? (dir. Jody Hill)

From AICN:

According to Hollywood Reporter, Jody Hill's next project is a little different - an action-adventure movie about two outlaws, set in the American South, made in the style, sources say, of a Sam Peckinpah shoot-em-up. Those sources also say that this could be a possible reboot for THE DUKES OF HAZZARD. I hope not. Although I'm sure if anyone can bring that series back with a movie it's Hill, I'd much rather see him do something original, even if it is influenced by Peckinpah and the movies of the 1970s. We know Hill can make movies (and TV shows) with teeth in them so hopefully he'll get to make the movie he wants, regardless of its pedigree.

Dukes or not, I will watch anything Hill does.

really hoping it's an original story and not a DUKES reboot

Maybe it's a remake of Moonrunners (which was the inspiration for the Dukes). Either way, I'm in.

Would Warner even greenlight an R-rated Dukes of Hazzard film? I can't see Jody Hill work on a film that doesn't have an R-rating from the get-go.

Sony proved R-rated films based off of TV properties can work with 21 Jump Street so I don't see it that far fetched.

A serious DoH movie? Without the campy humor, it will just be Fast & Furious with rednecks.
