....I never noticed that before. You're right.

I saw this last night. I thought it was okay. It started off slow, and I really didn't like any of the characters at all. By the end of the movie I was able to enjoy them for what they were. The movie looks pretty good in 3D and the villain (boogie man) is decent. Overall it was decent, but no where near as good as Wreck-It Ralph.

A group must unite to defeat a common enemy. One of the group is new, inexperienced... but he's the only one who can help them stop their greatest threat. And along the way, he'll fall in love.

Yep, sounds fresh as a week old plate of shit.

I got stuck seeing the trailer for this twice before Frankenweenie (nice work, Regal employee) and that felt like a chore.

Also saw this last night. I agree this wasn't as good as Wreck-It Ralph. The 3-D was good, character interactions were enjoyable but the plot was definitely predictable.

Saw it yesterday and thought it was entertaining enough. 3-D was good.

If it has a good opening, will it be due to merit or the fact that it's a family targeted film opening on Thanksgiving Weekend?

Re: Rise of The Guardians

I'd say the latter has more power over the former. Granted...I don't know how movies do during that week cuz I usually don't give a fuck to go out of the house at that timeframe.

Like Snake says, probably more the latter than the former. It's an entertaining film but nothing exceptional.

The movie will have a good opening. Because there isn't much brand new stuff to watch with kids. If it's up against another family movie, it may have problems.

Took my nieces to see it. Good, but not Wreck-it Ralph good.

Voice cast was excellent. Jackman is awesome as Bunny.

Defintely some religious undertones present throughout the film, especially at the end where
Spoiler:
the shadows drag Pitch back into darkness/hell. Reminded me of Ghost.

Watched it on 3D on a theater all to myself. Loved it. Question:
Spoiler:

When Sandy is fighting with Boogey did anybody else go, "Yoda" ? :)

That's who he reminded me of.
Spoiler:
That Sandy/Pitch battle was epic, especially when Jack unleashed all sorts of hell against Pitch at the end of it.

How are people seeing this? I thought it wasn't coming out until after Thor 2.

yes essentially ... ;)

but the film is a merging of several children's books called the Guardians of Childhood - so the filmmaker's can't be totally at fault in us thinking they drew this inspiration out of their ass by themselves.

I thought the 3D was fantastic, way better than the overrated Life of Pi

How the fuck the Sandman just magically came back to life out of nowhere.

Another thing that was sort of funny that my friend pointed out:

Collecting teeth was a pretty serious issue at the beginning of the movie, yet the Guardians are wasting time dicking each other over while trying to get the most teeth for themselves. My friend was like "Or...you could just pool your resources and get the job done."

Blasphemy, Life of Pi 3D was awesome :p I seriously thought though that LOP 3D was the best example of 3D enhancing a movie and being intertwined with the storytelling, LOP was just awesome. ROG was great, and I guess I'm one of the few that thought Wreck-It Ralph was just meh.

Can't tell if serious. If you are well...

You're thinking Guardians of The Galaxy.

Snake, while you're here I thought you might like this. It was in the AICN holidya gift guide:

I've still yet to see Wreck it Ralph. As for Pi - I think it was the theater I saw it at where I was underwhelmed - it was a small screen and the seats where I sat where too far away from the screen - here in the DC metro area though, all the specialty X-large screens are showing this (and in 7.1 audio - no Atmos though :( :( :( ), so I'll give it another viewing.

A white man in a robe, who might be naked under there? thank you. But no.

Speaking of which Giles, have you been to the newly renovated Courthouse in Arlington? I haven't been yet but they have reclining cushy seats, reserved seating, and are finally stadium.

The Mosaic in Fairfax is also a good new one.

I enjoyed Guardians more than Wreck-It Ralph and figured there was something wrong with me

Re: Rise of The Guardians

The other weird thing about this was that...do kids really care about Jack Frost as an entity/person these days? The Sandman is at the outer limits, Jack Frost wouldn't even be on the radar. It's kind of funny at the end that the kid instantly said "OH it's JACK FROST!" I mean...the dude made an image of the Easter Bunny with ice, that is kind of a leap.
