Pizza the Hutt

I like Clerks 2 but its biggest problem is it had no point. The first movie had a point: Take personal responsibility for the events in your life and if you're unhappy then "shit or get off the pot." Dante was an indecisive loser but he was relatable. The whole movie was. In Clerks 2 he's just pathetic. If you're 33 years old and pissed that you're flipping burgers at McDonalds then chances are you have no one to blame but yourself. That's certainly the case here. What exactly is Dante angry at Randall for at the end, blaming him for his ruined life? He's the one who knocks up becky(Dawson). He says he took CC classes but dropped out "because Randall stopped going". What the hell is that? Makes no sense.

I do have to hand it to Clerks 2 for having a somewhat sweet ending considering the tone the rest of the film had. I also have fond memories of where I saw it but I can't use that to alter the score in its favor.

The problem I had with Clerks 2 was that it seemed to negate the message of the first one. The first one was saying that if you're unhappy with the crappy job you have and want to move on with your life, only you can do something about it, and you need to take action. The second seemed to say that if you find you like that crappy job and that's where you feel comfortable, just stay with what's familiar. Hence

My Other Self

I still like Smith's movies because I grew up on them. To me they're still funny and it brings back a lot of nostalgia. The only non-View Askewniverse title I liked was Zack & Miri. I thought it was hilarious.

I do like Jay & Silent Bob and the world he created, though.
