Matterhorn - based on the Disney ride

From Collider:

The noble Yeti: a creature neglected by modern cinema. We lavish our attentions on vampires and zombies, but the Yeti goes ignored and unloved. Until now. THR reports that awful screenwriter Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) will write the screenplay for director Brian Beletic‘s untitled adventure movie based on Disney’s Matterhorn ride. Per the logline, “The story centers on five young adventure seekers — an action sports guy, travel guide, cartographer, archeologist and escape artist — who venture into the Alps for mysterious reasons and face Yetis that guard a secret.” In other Kruger news, Variety reports that he and co-writer Bradley Cramp have sold their script Invertigo, but there are no details on the plot. Presumably, the plot does not involve yetis and is therefore less worthy of our attention.

The scope has been broadened beyond the Matterhorn and Disney hopes “to keep part of the movie grounded in hardcore adventure.” As well they should. Softcore adventuring will not do when it comes to YETI SECRETS.

They lost me at "Ehren Kruger".

Sigh. I still can't believe The Haunted Mansion did $180 million box office.

Still waiting for "Teacup Ride: The Movie"

The Alps? Is that where the Matterhorn is? I always assumed the Himilayas since that is where Yetis are.

The Materhorn is already based on a movie. Third Man on the Mountain. Good movie too.

This sounded like a bad idea when it was jokingly talked about on Entourage.

Is this a new ride? It doesn't ring any bells for me.

The Matterhorn is in the Alps, but for some reason they thought the ride needed to have Yetis in the mountain itself sometime in the 80s. Expedition Everest has a much cooler and larger Yeti, and is in the right geographic location to do such.

Will there be a scene of a pick-up basketball game inside the mountain?

Shia LaBeouf is in talks.

There's a Matterhorn level in the Disneyland Kinect game where you throw snowballs at yetis in order to save Goofy. I'm pretty sure that has more entertainment value than what they'll come up with here.

It's only at Disneyland, Ca.

BTW, did Del Toro's Haunted Mansion stop dead in it's tracks? I haven't heard one peep about that movie since it's Comic-Con announcement....2 summers ago??

The project fell apart when they couldn't get Eddie Murphy to return.

The REAL Materhorn is in the Alps, and yes Yetis are from the Himalayas, but there are also Yetis in Anaheim and they infest the fake Materhorn because it's the tallest mountain in a 50 mile radius.

I think my idea would make a better movie.

Re: Matterhorn - based on the Disney ride

I can't wait until the run out of Disney rides to make movies out of, and resort to making "Overpriced Concession Stand #14B:The Movie" in the year 2035, starring the head of Lindsey Lohan and Channing Tatum's son, Poe.
