Every RADiUS-TWC release has been released on VOD "Same time as theaters" or before theaters (Bachelorette, Butter) hasn't it?
Though I think the difference here is they may have actually put some money into the movie's $4.8m budget. Could be wrong though.

calm down stretchAfter the success of Drive I think it's a safe bet that this gets a wide theatrical release.

I think the first trailer is just less deceptive. The trailers for Drive made it look like a heist movie in the style of Fast and the Furious. The actual movie didn't appeal to mass audiences at all. If they wanted to they could make deceptive trailers for this one and play up the MMA or kickboxing angle and make it look similar to Warrior/The Fighter.

I'm just saying that if Drive had any mass audience appeal it was due to extremely misleading marketing.

This is not getting a wide theatrical release.
Vegas will get it as my local theater has an agreement with Radius-TWC so I'll have the luxury of seeing it up on the big screen, but I'd be shocked if the film receives wider than a 100-screen release.
Again, I wish another studio got the distribution rights.

Yeah... I don't expect this one to reach any local theatres here. I'm fine with VOD, though.

A local woman around here sued because she said the trailer misrepresented the film, and two of my friends have complained about it for the last two years since the trailer made it look like The Fast and the Furious 7 and they were disappointed. I love the hell out of it though. Was Drive at all successful commercially? What it had probably mostly had to do with Gosling.

I believe Refn consulted with Noe on how to depict the explosions of violence in Drive.

Drive:
Budget $13 million
Box office $77,560,689
It made a shitload on DVD and Blu-ray and home video, too. It was a hit.

I didn't think the trailer was mis-representative for Drive, but then again I know Refn's other work so I knew what I was watching when I saw the trailer.
Anyway, this is a low budget arthouse flick, it won't get a wide release.

Drive:

Fast Five:

and for the hell of it...Fast Six:

Drive's trailer clearly has a much relaxed paced, calmer mix of music aside from the chase beat, and easily a much more grittier tone than a Fast and Furious film trailer. And well those films in general.
Yeah. I don't see this getting wide either. If Drive was "polarizing" for some...OGF would only be more of it. Just more violent.

I had no idea that Nicholas Winding Refn was partially colorblind, we need more colorblind directors

Looks like Kristen Scott Thomas is going for the Albert Brooks character in this one.
