Not really. It had some impactful and surprsing moments that led to graphicness but...it wasn't enough to get an NC-17. It's violence was VERY well controlled. The moments themselves aren't even there too long shot wise if you think about it in an editing sense.

I see your point. Maybe it was more of the shock factor of what I was seeing that contributed to my thinking. But it was still the most violent movie I had seen in a long time.

On the flip side, I'll take Tony Scott and Denzel Washington over and over and over and over.

I'm not going to lie....Scott and Washington have made entertaining films together. Deja Vu while flawed is still very entertaining..just wish it was better.

Description of a scene shown at Cannes. Pretty much Drive 2.
"The camera finds a room in what now seems to be a club of some sort, possibly a high-end strip club. Two Thai men in white suits sit laughing on a long couch in one corner, Gosling sits in another staring at a nervous looking girl holding a microphone. She’s not singing or looking like she’s about to sing, just standing there looking sad and lost in her thoughts.
Gosling stands abruptly, walks calmly over to the two Thai men having a good time and proceeds to smash one of the men’s drinks into this face, shattering the glass against his teeth.
Punches are thrown, Gosling dominating the fight, which continues out into the hall where Gosling grabs the hurt man by THE MOUTH (he’s lying on the floor, gasping in pain and Gosling just goes ahead and sticks his hand into the dude’s mouth and drags him down the hall by his upper jaw) and throws him out of the building.
The man’s friend kicks Gosling from behind, they brawl and Gosling ends up not only beating them both, he decides that’s not enough and removes his belt and starts a-whippin’."

I didn't go with Drive since the comparison to Drive was already in text That scene sounds phenomenal on my sound system, especially the shotgun.

Oh the comparison was seen but...since we're showing off clips..why not show one more? I chose the apartment one cuz..well..the elevator one is always brought up. This one I enjoy more though.

Same, the motel sequence is my favorite in the movie.

let my girlfriend watch Drive the other day, she doesn't watch many serious really violent movies so it was hilarious how she reacted to the death scenes

I really like how Gosling has mostly stayed from romantic comedies and has built himself a solid career. As much as I love his quiet ultra violent characters I hope he chooses more varied roles.
