Enjoyable, forgettable movie. Carano is pretty and some of the sound design was... interesting. That's pretty much all I'll take from this. It'll be gone from theatres in two weeks time. GC was hyped as the "next big action star", she'll have to settle for being the next Jeff Speakman.

I like the separate reviews thread but can we still keep the director's name in the thread? Much more relevant for searches.

I'd actually prefer it if she became a DTV star and her movies were directed by Isaac Florentine and not Soderbergh. Put her in with Gary Adkins for NINJA 2 and I'd be very happy.

Just saw this tonight. It was just alright for me. Very forgettable movie. I think Gina Carano is definitely sexy and photogenic on camera, but she needs to work with an acting coach. I thought she was so wooden and at times looked bored. I actually started to get bored mid-way through the movie. The Mallory character came across as very unlikeable. I know she's a little too old now, but I think someone like Jennifer Garner would have handled the material better and actually added some emotional depth to Mallory. Plus, Garner worked on Alias and has the physical training to do what Mallory did here.
I do credit Soderbergh for not using some extra sound effects or overblown score for the fight scenes. They felt really authentic and you could see that Carano is very athletic.
Good supporting cast. Although I think Michael Douglas was underused. Cool ending, but I felt like it was wrapped up too neatly.
Overall, I give it between a B- and C+ I don't think I will be re-visiting this film anytime soon.

Pasted from the other thread:
I saw it today and really liked it. I thought Carano did really good and far better than whatshername in The Girlfriend Experience. Sometimes Gina's dialogue was delivered with a lack of enthusiasm at times but in the action scenes she held her own. In fact, I found it hard to believe when she was having a hard time with some guys. I guess they had it to make it interesting. Like others said, the still camera on the action scenes was very refreshing. I enjoyed Soderbergh's choices for shots. He did everything pretty well. It was a lot of fun and nice to see a different kind of action flick other that typical star vehicles made by generic Hollywood gun-for-hires.
I voted "Awesome!" or

Loved it. Tight and brutal, lots of momentum and Gina Carano, while a little rough in the acting department, more than made up for it with charisma, good looks and serious ass kicking.
Blu-ray purchase on day 1 for me.

Fights were fantastic, but GC's vocal delivery was stiff. Decent B movie

I liked it, although it moved a little slower than I was expecting.
Oh, and for all the people complaining about Gina's acting, Soderbergh redubbed her voice for the entire movie. See here explanation of Gina's voice.
Basically, he didn't want "Mallory" to sound like Gina. I'm sure that contributed to her "wooden" delivery.

A little surprised that this only made a little over $8M with it opening in about 2500 screens.
Luckily the budget is really low at approx $25M, so it will probably break even in the U.S. and maybe make a little money from overseas. But it's by no means a hit.

I took that as a "shit happens" moment. Not a great time for it to happen, but they were running out of options anyway.

I thought it was really good, but not great. Definitely a Soderbergh movie. Probably too "deep" for someone expecting a straight up action movie. Carano's performance definitely leaves something to be desired, but the action sequences make up for it in my mind. The rest of the cast is great.
I would recommend catching this in the theater.
As for Carano, if I was Warner Bros. I would cast her as Wonder Woman today. Right now.

I loved this movie. It wasn't perfect, but it hit the right notes for me. I loved how it would hold on scenes a bit longer than you would think necessary. Like the shots of her running down the street during the chase scene. I'm a little burned out on the music video style action movie, so it was great seeing this movie not be that.
